loos like them tuners are bang on too. Please glue your 2 nut halves back together so its like one piece to use as a template. Its a great way to shape the bottom section of the earvana when it arrives. The earvana material is easy to shape and therefore easy to take too much off. Use the old nut as a template and it will be alot easier and fit like a dream.

The earvana has arrived and has been shaped. one last question and then the puzzle is complete. Nut glue... Is this a special formula or will simple wood glue do the job?

I'm begining to have doubts about this earvana nut. Its center curves towards the headstock with the tips curved towards the heel of the neck. a feature my neck certainly lacks. Nor does the bottom edge of the nut meet the bottom of the slot from the old stock nut. I double check the part #'s and such and they match, but I'd swear there is no way this earvana could ever fit no matter how creative I got with the shaping of it.

Final analysis: Drop in my $@!! :x

Hi thumbs: lookin' good, man!

I've used white wood glue sometimes, other times super glue. I've not noticed a functional difference between the two. The important bit is to just use a minute drop. It ain't there to keep the nut in place - the strings will do that. It's just there to stop the nut falling out when you change strings, and perhaps stop any conceivable unwanted vibrations between nut and slot, though that's unlikely.

The smaller the drop of glue the easier it will be to take the nut out next time...

Can't wait to see it finished...!

Cheers - C

EDIT: oops, just seen your last post. It's The Ninja's advice you need on that one...

I like wood glue because thet superglue sets to fast for the fudge factor.

Ha! - Yeah, I'm sorry, Niki's our resident expert on that nut. I'd be guessing on it and might mislead you. We just have to wait till The Source gets in from his gig. I'd be surprised if he doesn't log on - sit tight, Thumbs!

Oh, and cvilleira's point about the fudge factor with the glues is a good one too. Go for the wood glue...

Cheers - C

Ok. let me just go on record as stating... Nut shaping sux! The earvana still doesnt bottom out in the nut slot (or atleast not at the edges). how important is that? still a little wide at the edges as well.

I'm not sure if its just this earvana or what. I tempted to order a graph tech nut just for comparison sake.

WOOOHOOO!!!!! I'm done :D It took 6 hours of sanding and filing on the earvana but it fits! spent the weekend going thru the set up and played her last night.

The difference is night and day! Ya'll wouldnt believe how much better she plays. This is the sound I've been after for over a year now. Words just cannot convey the difference these mods have made. So I'm going to stop typing and go back to playing. Thanks to everyone who gave input and advice. 8)
