I can't believe Ana Popovic is not on the Fender artist list. She is very talented and great fun to watch live and plays Stats exclusivley. She writes, plays and sings all her own songs. I will travel this summer to see her play.

Artists have to contribute to the music industry before their awarded with such an honor and in my opinion she hasn`t reached that level yet. You don`t get your signature on a guitar by looks alone.

Re: Ana Popovic

Have you ever listened to all her albums? She has been around for over a decade and she completely blows away many of the artists on the list.

I don't know of any MI manufacturers who award Preferred Artist status like a Lifetime Achievement Award. Any professional can apply to become an "endorser" at most MI or pro audio companies, and Fender can probably be a bit choosier than smaller companies, but...

Do you think Eileen Rose and The Holy Wreck have "earned" the same place in music history as, say, Elvis Costello or Dave Gilmour?

Of course not. They simply applied, met the criteria, and were accepted. I'm sure Ana Popovic would be welcomed if she chose to apply.

Yes, I`ve heard her play and I`ve seen her playing in a video with CoCo Montoya in concert. I`m not saying shes bad, I just don`t think her playing is that special for Fender to warrant her signature on a guitar. Who knows, maybe some day she`ll make it and the ladies out there who play wil have a role model.

Let's face it, given a couple of recent choices for Artist Models, musicianship doesn't matter, it's just whether it can be successfully marketed.

If fender thinks they can make enough $$$ there will be one.

The OP isn't asking about a signature model. He's just curious as to why she's not on the Fender Artist list.

Exactly SlapChop.

How did it morph to "signiture guitar"?

She is an excellant Musician, not too bad on the eyes either. Not sure if at this time she is ready for a signature model. I also think if she wanted one, she could get a CS made for her by Fender. We'll see where it goes from there. I have not heard of her until recently (my loss). I do look forward to keeping track of her career from now on.

I would love to see her on the Artist List as well.
