I think a UK-made Fender Strat would be gear.

HAHAHAHA. gotta love this mans dryness.

I actualy think given the suspected stipulations and definate limiting of hardware fender put on their overseas builders, it would be junk. Like our cars.

we dont give a toss overhere mate.

Oh you naughty man, Orville!

BTW, Niki: my wife and I have one of the first X-Type Jags off the production line (the "baby Jag"). Jaguar were so proud of their new model at that time that they invited us to go and watch it being built as it came down the line: they knew a month in advance the exact moment of a certain day when that would be. Couldn't make it: always regretted not seeing our car being made.

We've still got it: been running flawlessly for nearly eight years now. That's a company that very much does give a... what you said. :D

Now. Let's have a row for seven or eight pages over exactly how many of the components of that car were manufactured where, and what the genetic origin of the workers was...

(That's a joke refering to another thread, ladies and gentlemen. Please let's not have that discussion... )

Anyhow. BigJay: if you want a Strat-type guitar from somewhere else - I'll build you one if you like...?

I was part of a 3 man team that built the new jaguar showroom in castle bromich, birmingham. If you go there and see the natural lighting coming through a domed indent in the ceiling with the wooden pelmet surrounds. Thats my work. They parked a K series under one, a 60's Etype under the other and a xj220 under the third.
I'm quite familiar with jag's work ethos. That amazing ceiling lighting detail was quite intricate, we formed all of the pelmet detail on site. The lighting for each is from a 10" inside mirrored conduit pipe that reflects/amplifies natural light from the rooftop.

My commemts regarding british workmanship were more to do with average downtrodden poorly treated factory workers that our nation seems rife with. It really was no slight against british quality. It would be a stupidly untrue to say british stuff was no good when we produce the must have luxury cars and 3 or 5 of the best amps in the world. Never mind small guitar builders such as manson, birch and the plethoria of other little independant builders.

BTW my dad had a 05 xtype that i used to chauffer him around in during the latter stages of his illness, when he couldnt drive. Very fond memories of that car.

MIM, MIJ, MIK....they are all better than MIA strats.

This is because they have foreign made components.

Hopefully I can find an MIM body to put my collection of MIK hardware in.

What do you guys think about that?

i woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.
now that i have seen this much better mood hahahaha!!!

We don`t come into the forums to start trouble. We come to give or get help. If you want trouble find yourself a wife.

Jay..I`m not upset or offened so don`t feel like that. We just try to keep things from turning hot so Fender keeps the forums open for us. No harm done...

Well lets all move on then. Bigjay im sorry for arguing with you. Lets put it behind us eh mate?

JPD decent rangerovers are cheap as chips over here at the moment due to 4x4's higher road tax banding. I say we petition our goverments for a Atlantic tunnel much like the channel tuneel. We get that sorted mate, i'll drive you one over.

How much off-roading can you get up to in brooklyn?

Niki, a Range Rover Sport which is what I would like, starts at $59 000 USD. Add a few options plus tax and it sells for $65 000. For some it might be chump change, but for me thats a lot of cash. Building an Atlantic Tunnel would be something, what a great achievement that would be. I hope they don`t forget to add restrooms along the way.
