OK. I have a new mim strat. Yeah.
Little question. Do you guys just develop callouses on the side of your picking hand from the bridge, or does it wear down? I am used to my Les Paul and other guitar w/ a Floyd so the bridge is smooth. I guess plam muting should just rock and not be comfortable. lol.

Also, if I were to upgrade the bridge, what are the best options?

The easy answer is 'you get used to it'.
The harder answer is, 'Your technique will develop to compensate for the discomfort'.
If you listen to most classic strat stars their palm muting isnt heavy at all. Its just enough to dull the strings, rather than provide the choked sound of messers hetfield and mustaine.

I had the opposite experience. I play strats and find the bridge very smooth and easy on the palm. A while back I bought an SG and that tune-o-matic bridge just shredded my hand. I guess it really is what you get used to.

Ok i will get used to it, but If I was to upgrade.
Are there any suggestions on quality bridges. I have seen some with graphite saddles etc.

Any thoughts.

hey, I hadn't really thought much about that issue...now that I do, it turns out that I rest my palm on the strings over the bridge pickup most of the time so my right hand seldom comes in contact with the bridge itself.
