how about getting a HSS and installing a coiltap. Its not the most authentic tones but will give you a half decent approximation without having to resort to swapping pickguards. It'll cost you a maximum of £30 and help you make your mind up as to what you want or use most.

Kman, I'm a huge fan of the HSS but alot depends on what you want to do with it.

yeah I am going to guitar center tomorrow to try out the MIM HSS and the MIM SSS. I will definitely keep prowling around the forum for advice. Thanks for all the help. Hopefully I will be able to get a guitar by next weekend.

Hey Blertles.....What the hell does that mean...."Bring back the biff"

Should I be insulted?

Also, why do you keep commenting on parts of discussions that have nothing to do with the original topic of the thread?

No my friend, you shouldnt- its just a saying in my part of the world.. nothing to get upset over.

For your other comment, I have a right to say what I like, when and where- that is why. Dont over-analyse it.

having different pickguards loaded with different combos of pickups is a great suggestion. however a word of caution before you spend the money. take the advice of looking under the pickguard to make sure the body routes will accomodate the humbuckers. i have two MIM strats, a standard and a deluxe and on both the neck cavity is to small for a humbucker...

Bertles, Im glad to hear your arent annoyed with me, but you didnt completley answer my question.

What does "Bring back the biff" mean??? Seriously.

In the upper midwest, USA, a "biff" is a portable toilet.

Ok Ill tell you.. its funny you say because biff doesnt mean that here. Think of say, a footy game that gets a little outta hand. A player goes in for a tackle, and ends up being a little high- and the opposing team gets a little annoyed & confrontational and before you know it- it gets nasty. A player in the team who gets a little annoyed, and as you say, goes after the guy..
