" At the end of the day,60th Anniversary or not,its a deluxe strat with reissue pickups."
I totally agree with that,i tried it out and even though i liked the way the pickups sounded, i realized i could swap pickups in my American Series for alot cheaper than the price they were asking .Besides i doubt seriously if it will become more valuable than mine.

I would assume when someone is talking about a 60th anniversary model that they are talking about the commemerative model and not the regular one because there is nothing that sets them apart from the other stock strats other than the serial number.

The differences run beyond just the serial number. All 2006 Fender Stratocasters have a commemorative badge on the back side of the headstock.

My blues jr has a badge just like that on the nameplate because it was made in 06,just something they did that year, but i dont consider it a 60th anniversary model.

Your info is bad.

A 2006 American Stratocaster does not have 57'62 pickups. All 2006 Stats have the 60th emblem on the back of the headstock.
I have one, I know they are not 57/62's. I will post pictures of the pickups if you must see. 57/62' pickups have beveled edges on the posts. American Stratocaster (standard) pickups have staggered cut poles on the pickups.

You're half right. The 2006 regular American series does not have the 57/62, however the "special" 60th anniversary edition does. Wanted to bring this thread up, because I just bought one in near mint condition and I love it. The rosewood fretboard has the mix of dark and light wood and it looks exotic almost.

My best friend, and roomate has the 60th Anniversary with the cubic zirconia in the headstock, and apparently the 57/62 pickups. I have a 2008 American Standard. I prefer mine. Personally, I prefer maple fretboards over rosewood, and the new finish and saddles on mine make it feel and look better to me. I think im in the minority, but I just don't like the feel of the woodgrain on my fingers that you get with the rosewood fretboards. I also believe that the maple fretboards have a 'brighter' sound, which I prefer. You might like the rosewood and how it looks and feels, though. They're both really nice guitars though.

the 2006 model is one of the best strats you can get for the money.

pickups are standard 6.8k usa .....delta tone pot on bridge pup.

£650 - £750 used....... £970 - £1,029 new (in 2006)

very comfortable steel block saddles also make this guitar a must to own given the chance.

best wishes....andyluthier
