What a great guitar! 8) I'd love to have a 1992 SRV strat someday. It would probably be pretty sentimental to me since that was the year I was born and SRV is my favorite guitar player ever. But even then, I'd play it! :D

Congrats on your new axe. Forgive my ignorance, but what's the difference between a 1992 SRV and one that's new?

It was released in 1992, so it's a first run guitar.

Pickups will have cloth covered wires and Custom Shop stickers on the back. If the previous owner didn't take the plastic off of his case I doubt that he would have bothered to play around with the pickups though!

I had a look at the pickups in this beast and there is no markings whatsoever on them. No stickers, nothing. All the soldering looks OK, but what do you mean when you say Cloth Coated?

I should have taken a pic!!

Old style wiring was insulated with a cloth, instead of the modern plastic sleeve. The reissues use this old style of wiring.

The wires will have a cloth covering rather than a plastic one thats usually on pickup wires.

Hmm.. I am not sure. I did notice that everything felt sticky... like it was covered in some sort of residue.

I might have to pop her open again and take some pics.

I do know that the middle and neck pickups are REALLY warm, but the bridge is week as piss in comparison!! :)

What good is a toy that you don't play. Any guitar is made to be played, not stored away or put on display. To me that would be a waste of a good guitar. BTW, nice guitar. :D
