Say what you want about these starter guitars, but the are light years better than the stuff I had access to as a tot.

just think what the early blues guys went through, playing with twine and a broomstick.

Let's face it , none of us are the target for these things. They are meant for people with no knowledge, a limited budget, and good intentions to get their feet wet. if little Jr. lasts a month before throwing it into the closet, never to be seen again, then he is a rare shining exception. think back on how many kids you knew growing up that took music lessons, and stuck with it. Then consider how many picked up an instrument on their own, and stuck with it. odds are it's just you, and the guys from your first band that come to mind.

These are an affordable way to enter the market.

I have said it before and I will say it again - the Starcasters can be better guitars than you guys are giving them credit for. Cheap pickups, yes, and tuners also - but how many of us change those even on high end guitars without even a second thought?

I started with a Starcaster. The fit and finish on the body are just fine. And the neck is straight and true - and while not enough to grade out, it is birds eye maple!

Nothing wrong with it that a new set of hardware won't fix....

I think that the Starcasters and the Squire Bullets are great guitars for what they are supposed to be. Beginner guitars with just enough umph to get someone intrested in playing, if they are serious. If the person who gets them are not intrested in playing them, they can sit in a corner until it either gets tossed or sold to another person.

As someone else mentioned that if you do not like the parts, change them out. If I were still learning to do extensive modifications I would rather learn to mod on a cheap guitar than on an expensive one.
