have a 97 fender stratocaster california series bought new in 97. anyone else own one of these. plays like a dream. black w/ white pickguard.

Welcome to the Fender Forums!

I tried to buy one a few years ago, but I never had the winning bid. Fender made them for only a short time, about a year and a half in the late '90s I think. They have gotten rather rare these days so I would hold on to it.

Plan on hanging on to this one. Just wondered if anyone else had one. Never hear or see them mentioned anywhere. Have only played it at home. Still in mint condition.

Thanks for all the info. It actually came with "vintage hardware" "tremolo bridge,tuners". Looks and plays like a classic.
