Hi, my name is Duane. I am from Wisconsin and have been playing since about 1983.
I started playing bass in a garage band with a Cort bass, my first guitar. I played heavy metal and classic rock. Then later on I updated to a, as they were called, FENDER SQUIRE BULLET BASS.
I then started playing guitar, after a break of a about 7-8 years. My first good guitar was a FENDER SRV SIGNATURE EDITION. I have been fortunate enough to own alot of good guitars over the years. I am hoping to maybe play in a garage/bar band this summer.

Tell you what. its certainly nice and interesting to find a little bit about the people were sharing the forum with. Especaily without anyone writing a 4 page essay on their wives gran's cat.

Allan64.
I've 3 daughters i know what you mean about beating the boyfriends up. They do make you insanely protective. My eldest is 11, all i do is worry.

Great topic Rob.

My name is Ceri (pronounced Kerry, BTW, like the county in Ireland).

I am married with no children and two cats. My wife and I travel between London and the South West of England regularly; our cat's come with us and sit on our knees on the train. It's very cute.

I have several guitars and drumkits in both locations.

Cheers - C

In a nutshell-

name's Stephen live here in S.C. am 35 years old got into playing in bands by accident, guitar was a hobby but my roommate(s), all music majors, band needed a rhythm guitar player something about too many chiefs wanted someone who would just play rhythm. I in turn grew musically from there and went on to form my own bands. Played punk, grunge then got older and started playing country and pure rock and roll. When came time for me to get married I felt I had done my time sold most of my equipment, except for the best stuff, most of it is Fender, and now I record at home or play friends and families parties and live the simple life with my wife 2 kids 3 horses one dog and a big smile on my face…… I am also glad to learn a little bit more about the people I’ve been conversing with for the past year and more. Thanks

Hello All,

My name is Mike and I am fairly new here as well. I live outside of Orlando. I first played guitar when I was in my teens and was in a couple of garage bands. Although that was in the late 60s and early 70s before there were garage bands.

I quit playing once life became serious and I needed to earn a living. I started playing again about 2 years ago and am loving it.

I too am a guy with a bunch of daughters and feel your pain. I wonder if we have discovered a link between teenage daughters and compulsive guitar disorder.

I am reaching the point in life when you start thinking about retirement. In today's economy this means thinking about what you will do as your second career. I have hit on the idea of becoming a luthier so I have started working slowly in that direction.

My guitars are a CP 60s strat, a Breedlove AD-20, and an '81 Washburn Raven.

Hi flplayer: lot of people here love talking projects and looking at photos. Take that journey in public, why not, and tell us about some of your work?

Don't need to be Fender type models; we're very accepting of guitars in all their forms here.

Go to it - good luck!

Cheers - C

Hi Ceri,

Thanks for the encouragement. I wouldn't dream of destroying a fender guitar as I learn through trial and error. :D

The Washburn is my current victim and I'll upload some pics once it is off of life support.

Mike

Played in and out of garage bands through HS and College ('til 1990) when i got married. I sold most of stuff in early 1991 to buy our first house so I didn't play at all until @ 3 years ago. Now I am back wishing I had never stopped.

hey rob, what were you doing in mississauga?

I was on a sales call at Mac Steel.

Hello, my name is Steve and I live in northern NJ. I learned a few chords from roommates in college (mid '80's) and just played around from there. I too am married with 3 kids 10 and under. I have a good friend and work that is a truly gifted player and he's taught me some new things but practice time is almost non existent. I'm at the point where I'm trying to get my fingers to play fills and leads. Never having learned formally puts me at a disadvantage. Most learn scales or scale patterns and practice moving their fingers early on; I went the opposite and learned to play chords and that's where I've been for 20 years. It's time to learn new trick. I've always liked the Fender line and am looking for the right one (at the right price too). I have a Peavey Patriat and Ibanez acoustic. Both are good instruments but onece I get to where I'm good, it will be time for the Strat (or Tele).

Keep playing everyone!

I am blaming my Gear Aquisition Disorder On my children! For sure!
My daughter is in school to be a paramedic, and I can't wait until she is finished and leaves Hooters behind! It's really GOD just punishing me for being a womanizer anyway... I mean... women are the reason I picked up a guitar... in 1978 when I bought my first Fender Mustang - girls talked to you just for holding the thing in your hand! (the Guitar)

Hate to burst your bubble, but ...

Hi I'm Brent./I live in western Canada, and I have no idea who your mayor is :P

Been playing since the mid 80's, didn't get a strat til 94, barely even touch the other guitars since then. At one point i was in a band with 3 names, one for when we did rock gigs, one for when we played metal, and one for punk. We played a couple country shows too, but just used our rock name.

I went away from playing for awhile, regret it heavily, and currently trying to rebuild my chops to the point I am not ashamed to play in front of people anymore.

,...And I've been to Mississippi, but, never have I been to Mississauga.

I've never been to Canada- or Great Britain... They both sound great! and cold!

I want to see London next summer... Hey Nick, Could you direct me to a Bar where a large southern boy from the U.S.A such as myself could get intoxicated to the point of bullet proof...without being beaten, rolled and generally verbally abused?
