Hey Guys and Gals!!

I'm almost positive that this has been brought up in the past but, in the short time I have been here, I have seen a lot of new names and I'm curious to know who am I talking with? I guess I'm asking you to tell me and a lot of the new guys a little about yourself... I can go first.

My name is Rob and I've been living in Mississauga Ontario Canada almost all my life. A city (for most that don't know) holds about 600,000 people and still growing. At 26 yrs old I work for Pepsi Bottling Group as a truck driver delivering pop in and around Toronto GTA. I have only ever owned Fender Electric Guitars, currenty owning 6 (3 strats, 1 tele, a toronado and a jag-stang) Unmarried with a serious girlfriend, we party on weekends and during the week (while not working) I like to facebook and frequent the fender forums trying to obtain as much as i can AND of course play guitar religiously. I've been playing since I was 14 or 15. It all started from my uncle who gave me my first guitar which was a classical style, never appreciating it, i carved stuff like nirvana rules and ozzy into it with a pick!! (yes! a pick) not one for reverence then, I smashed it and later threw it away (big mistake, not only was it a gift, it was from spain). Since then I've learned to appriciate music a lot more. I have a dog and yada yada yada....

So if interested, tell me/us about yourself...

Hey Rob,

I am another Rob...I also happen to know where Mississauga is. I was there a few months back.

Anyway, suburban Chicago, started playing 1981...wow am I that old?
Played in and out of garage bands through HS and College ('til 1990) when i got married. I sold most of stuff in early 1991 to buy our first house so I didn't play at all until @ 3 years ago. Now I am back wishing I had never stopped.

Hi everyone-

My name is Chris Painter. I have been on here for a little while now too but haven't really formally introduced myself.

I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. My Dad played guitar and was a big Fender guy, a huge Clapton fan. A lot of my first memories are of him playing his black Strat through his gigantic (it seemed pretty large at the time) Tweed Fender Bassman. That was my introduction to the music world. I always knew that I wanted to be a guitar player.

I got my first guitar at age 3. It was a black 3/4 size knock off Strat and I played it through his Pignose. At 6 I decided to start playing seriously and when I told him this he immediately went out and bought my first real guitar- an Olympic White Fender Duo-Sonic. From then on playing guitar was my life. I got my first real Strat, an Olympic White Mexicaster at age 12 and I have probably been through about 15 since then trying to find the perfect guitar.

About a year ago I decided that I was ready to get out there and take a real shot at playing professionally. I traded in all of my gear for one perfect guitar and amp then packed up my stuff and headed to the best place I could think to make a living playing music.. New York City! I couldn't be happier- I play out almost every night and even if I never strike it rich I will be happy living here playing guitar.

I think that's pretty much it..

Cheers!

Chris Painter

This is a cool thread.

My name is Richard. I am 37, married, and have 2 teenagers (16 and 17). I am a nurse and currently work for a pulmonologist.

I started playing guitar when I was 14 (I think) on my mom's boyfriend's acoustic guitar. My first electric was a Fender knock-off and a Peavy Bandit amp. I played for about 6 years in and out of garage bands. I got married, joined the Army. Life went on without much guitar playing (just modding) for almost 10 years. I got out of the military about 7 years ago and became a nurse. I pulled out my Squire (modded to hell by that time) and started playing again about 5 years ago and I have been playing ever since.

I have owned in the past a Fender Strat copy (mentioned above), a Jackson off-set Flying V, a Gibson Flying V, a Mako (strat), a Squire HM III (my favorite until recently), a Charvell Charvett, a Korean made Fender Stratocaster (I believe to be a knock-off), a BC Rich Warlock NJ series, a ESP LTD HH 100, and my Fender Stratocaster Highway 1.

I currently have the Fender Stratocaster HWY 1 and the ESP LTD. All the others met fates such as trade-in or deaths of an unfortunate kind (fire, theft, needed money, ect).

My son started playing acoustic guitar about 4 years ago, but has given up on it. My daughter started playing the electric guitar in December. She is not that committed to it, but I hope she developes a passion for playing like I did sooo long ago.

On my off time I have enjoy playing my guitars, teaching my daughter to play, meeting cool people like you guys and gals, and surfing this site. Of course GAS is bitting me again and I am looking for my next aquisition. :)

Hi i'm nick and .... i buy guitars.

Sorry wrong evening

Started playing at 15 am now 36. After many nights of punk rock debauchery during the last 20 years i want to play nice quiet lounge/jazz music in a corner somewhere. Whilst people sip coffee and talk about their day. Hopefully i will be able to wear my slippers and dressing gown whilst persuing this activity.

hey babe take a walk on the mild side.

I dont gig anymore. Family life and touring bands dont mix unless your ozzy or maddona and can take your family with you. I do miss gigging but not enough to start it up again. Theres a limit to how much tarmac a man should see in one lifetime.

Hello Rob!
I am Allan from Florida, I am 44 years ancient, a father of 2 children- (a 22 year old son and a 20 year old daughter...) I say ancient because I just found out that my son is making me a Grandfather, AND tomorrow my daughter is getting photgraphed for the Hooters calendar...(she works for Hooters here in Florida!)
Thank GOD that I have a great hobby that I love like playing Fender guitars and amps to take my mind off of the fact that I am may be getting too old to beat up all of my daughter's boyfriends... (kidding)
I too work in the Beverage Industry... I have worked for a Budweiser wholesaler for 20 years here in Fort Myers, FLorida.
I probably have 25 guitars and a dozen amps (and still buy and sell all the time). My favorite guitar is my sunburst Eric Johnson model strat and favorite amp is an old 66 Pro Reverb. And, the Grandfather thing is AWESOME, actually!
