Funny you should say that. A mate of mine is selling his 62 es335 that hes been the sole owner. Nice guitar for not too much money, atleast nowhere near what its worth at the moment. £21k. He does have a roving eye though and may gladly trade your missus a couple of camels and a bunch of bananas for it.

your right! thats not a bad price at all. I came across a guy yesterday on craigslist that is selling a mid 50's es 135 (which is why I brought that up) where as it is so far beyond my price range I cant even laugh about it, he did offer to ler me play it for a lil while. I'm meeting up with him at 4 pm this afternoon. The guy has tons of stuff for sale and mentioned a mid 70's strat. will post pics later.

Just to update... I went and played the 1954 ES 135 this afternoon. I'm disappointed to say the guitar was a total wreck. the neck had been broken where it joins the body and was poorly repaired. there was an extra hole in the top and a crack in the top as well. As if all of that wasnt bad enough, it sounded HORRIBLE! I have a pic of it and another guitar on my cell phone, but have no idea how to get them to my puter.

Ok I figured out how to get the pics uploaded. The ES is on the left, but the real point of interest is the guitar on the right.

Harp shaped, there have been several made by different people. I remember one being quite recent although i cant remember much about it except it was expensive.
Shame about the 135 eh?

Did someone mention "freak guitars"? Try this one:

Shame? more like a crime! that poor poor guitar was in such terrible shape. Its hollow shell of its former self  onto the other guitar. I've seen harp style head stocks a few times before, but never on a double necked 16 string. Did you notice the last 2 strings hang out over the edge of the neck?

Yes, you can almost adjust the bridge and give her a brazilian wax at the same time.

could well be worth paying that listing a bit of attention over the next couple of weeks. Stay intouch with the seller too. If the buyer doesnt come good, get in like flint.

I sent him my contact info with my best offer (which was $350 BTW) if the auction winner doenst make good I'm sure I'll be hearing from him. The Am STD DLX that I posted later in the thread is at $580 as of now with 3 days left. I suspect it will exceed the spending limit I had set for myself. No worries tho. I've pretty much decided to go ahead and spruce up my 88 MIJ '69 RI (against all advice otherwise) I dont want a wall hanger. I want to play that puppy till the bridge melts and the neck goes up in flames! 8)
