And this guitar is 15 minutes down the road. :D Although there is really nothing to do to it. :?

That's a stellar guitar. Yeah, get that one. Although, you can be sure the price will be skyrocketing upward shortly. The eBay public is too smart to let a mint MIA Dlx w/ case go for anything around $400.

I dont mid paying more for that stick at all! plus with the seller being local I have the cash in hand advantage. :D

Put a bid in on the deluxe, its the guitar to have. Stuff isnt selling at the moment. you could get a lot of guitar for not too much money.

I was a bit shocked. I mentioned that I was 15 minutes away and offered to buy the guitar local and they declined. :?: They just want to give ebay 3% of the total?

Thumbs....unless the bidding has ended, they still have a contract with Ebay to sell it there. Plus, the guy is probably upset he didnt sell it. Everybody thinks their guitar is special. In reality, most of them are not. Some are, but most arent. You can buy as many as you want.

As always... I appreciate the input Jay, but I have since moved on to a different guitar. see the link about 5 posts up if you want to get to speed.

Hi all_thumbs09: but as BigJay said, this seller too has a contract with Ebay till the auction ends.

Also, a lot of people don't like to go off-Ebay with a transaction. Only problem I ever had happened that way. Paypal has it's uses...

Anyhow: how much did you offer the fella for the Deluxe?

Cheers - C

PS - I'm posting this at 4.45 am Arizona time. Do we have 24 hour posting now? When did that happen? Oh help: are we not to be allowed any sleep...?

I never got to the point of making an offer. Just mentioned that I live in the same area and would like to buy local if they had a buy it now price in mind.

As far as contracts go, I've seen tons of auctions end early because of local sale. Not that I'm questioning the motives of the seller, I just can't imagine passing up cash in hand. But thats Ok, maybe the auction will give me the chance to win it at a lower price and atleast I get to play it first and save on shipping. :)

Well, I don't see a reserve mentioned on that sale, so bid late, bid low, and you may just win yourself a crazy bargain. I presume he's happy for a collection in person? So at least you'll save the shipping costs.

Feel like telling us your Ebay username, so's we can watch and see if you get it? (Perhaps there's some security reason not to - but I'm unaware of it...)

It's a nice guitar - good luck!

Cheers - C

I thought the right to withdraw from sale was present everywhere. If i decided i wasnt selling something a ebay contract written by O.J's lawyers couldnt make me.

Actually, I don't buy much on Ebay and I've only sold a couple of times. So I really can't remember all the small print: you may well be right.

Only time I ever got completely done over was when a seller said, "hey, let's do this offline, why not?" (Mind you, I've had substandard goods, too - more on that next week!)

When I do bid, I nearly always win! I am that guy you all hate who places a decisive bid with two seconds of the auction left to run...

Cheers - C

Thats me too. I use a snipe program that enters your max bid with 6 seconds left in auction. Its tough to beat that. 8)

Haha - I just do it with my mouse finger. Used to be kinda exciting back in the days of dial-up internet. Did that bid register in time or not? Will this page ever load...?!

(Since we're vamping here...) Nice story about one of the few times I lost an auction I cared about. 'Bout eight years ago I was chasing a moderately unusual Premier orchestral snare drum in mint condition, by then discontinued: I was hot to net it. Like any good gambler I set myself a limit and stuck to it. Five minutes to go that snare drum was mine. Then someone slapped on a bid that beat my limit by £5.00. Should I top it? Sweat on the forehead - no: set a limit and stick to it. A slippery path to destruction otherwise.

The second the auction was over I vastly regretted my puritan decision. Needed that snare drum! I whined and groaned about it for the next two months as nothing similar came up for sale (and hardly ever does).

Then, Christmas day: a nice sized square box under the tree... Turned out to be the very snare drum I'd failed to buy! I'd been outbid by my own wife (under a username I didn't recognise). I've said it before: cool wife, huh?

Cheers - C

Awesome story with a happy ending  So it would seem puritan ways served you well that day. Yes, sounds as though your wife is most cool indeed! Mine on the other hand is far less understanding of my love of all things music. She'll sit and listen to me play for hours, yet nag to no end over the smallest purchase. Go figure. I have to say though, I wouldnt trade her for anything.... less than a mid '50 Gibson es-135
