I want to find out all the specs for my 93 and I haven't been able to find a place online. I'm wondering what kind of finish is on my guitar. Does anyone know off hand? It’s the 3 color sunburst. Also is it worth getting the guitar refinished with a thinner undercoat or the nitro-cellular? All the stuff about new strats that have a thinner finish for a better tone got me thinking. Thanks in advance.

You can get specification data on your strat by going here - under wiring diagrams/parts list : http://www.fender.com/support/

You can also email Fender Customer Support and they will email you back the info according to your serial number.
E-mail: consumerrelations@fender.com

Cheers,
Bill

Hey, don't waste your time and $$$, the tonal differences from the finishes are minimal. Your time and money will be much better spent in other areas like pickups if you want tone changes or less noise. I would also think that for the time and $$$ for a refinsh, you could trade in for a new one if it sounds better to you. Most of that is marketing hype imho. While a new one may have an advantage in finish, your wood is more aged which would more than offset any quality of tone differences from the finish imho. Your 93 already has 15 yrs of natural aging/drying, and in 10 years will be at that majic 25 year spot. Guitars are like a fine wine, they age well tonally
