Not to mention, floor stands are just waiting to hurl your precious baby to the floor. And some guitars really don't like being in their cases for too long. In fact some guitars, that have lacquer finishes, (like vintage guitars, or any of them with the nitrocellulose 'thin skin ' finish, and some others,) the finish gases off. This can react with the case material, and destroy both the finish and the case. Of coarse this isn't guaranteed to happen, but it can and has happened in the past. The best method of storing guitars is hanging em, I would recommend keeping em out of direct sunlight though.
