Sorry to post another "texas special" but i have a question and will listen to anyones input. I have a american strat special with the stock pickups I love them but I have fallen in love the the texas specials on another strat. Would i be downgrading if i put a set of these in my strat special??? I have been playing for years but have never really messed with my strats. And yes i have played with my tones... I know what I can get out of her.

Thanks everyone!!

Replacing any kind of pickups with pickups you like is not a downgrade, even if the ones you like are significantly cheaper. Any modifications you make to your strat that will make you like it better are upgrades.

That's the spirit!

It is never a, "down" grade. It is either, "up" or at the very least, "lateral".

Well, I hope you like them as much as I do. Or else I'm the one to blame if you don't.

Just keep all the original parts. That way you can go back if it does not work out.

Alot of notable strat players seem to think Texas Specials on a standard guitar are the way to go.

I thought the Stratocaster Special was made in Mexico back in the early 90's so I cant picture which guitar you have. The American Texas Special came with some nice sounding pickups that where Texas Special coils and the Fat ones had a PearlyGates Humb. and the double Fat's were the same guitar but two Duncan Humb's. What year is your guitar and what pickups are in it now?

Certainly not a downgrade.. But, tell me- are these the only pickups that you have played with from the Custom Shop? Before dropping that kind of money be sure to try everything!

Right now it has single coils across the board. it also has the button on the volume knob... i cant think of what its called and it is around a 2003 or 2004 how can i tell what year it is? i know it was the special and not the deluxe because it does not have a humbucker on the bridge. i guess i dont remember :?

You know they are the only custom shop pickups I have played. Are their any other pickups like them that i might want to consider? I just really like the punch and tone that they poar out of a good tube amp!
I love playing blues and alot of SRV "style" stuff. obviously not as pristine as he was but i try like heck.

I am really indecisive. I never throw any of my old parts away just in case i do want to go back to how it was .
