Hello. The name's Patrick. I'm new to the forum. I haven't been a strat owner for a very long time. I've owned my strat (first ever strat) for maybe a year or two. Oh, and I am loving every minute of it! I was a les paul guy, but now I'm a les paul/strat guy! lol Anways, my question is this: Does the 'pop in' tremolo arm lock into place? I've always wondered about this and was just curious. I used to have a strat copy that was made by Peavey (about 7 years ago) that had a threaded tremolo arm. This is only my second guitar with a tremolo, so I don't have that much experience. I don't like the way it seems to just sit there knowing that if I lean over the arm will fall out. This is probably a really lame question. lol Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Now don't take this without confirmation, cus I don't want you to break anything, but I seem to remember a similar thread, and the guy just didn't press the arm in enough.

First of all, thanks for your reply Twelvebar! I tried pushing the arm in pretty hard and still it doesn't lock in or anything. It just hangs loosely. It kinda looks like you should be able to lock it in somehow. I took a light and looked down inside where the arm goes. I don't know man! It really bugs me because it's so loose! I can't even use it properly for fear of pulling right out of the bridge. SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE! lol

On the AmDlx there is a set screw in the block (on the back side) that can be adjusted to change the tesion required to insert/rotate the arm. You will need to adjust it with an allen wrence. When you have it set up to where the arm stays in place (when the guitar is held in playing position), it will still be difficult to insert and remove though.

I changed to the Callaham block, this being ine of the reasons.

Ok just to clear the air....your Strat is the American Deluxe Strat SSS or the HSS?Either way both have the 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo rite?Meaning there's no thread to the trem....
Well i own the Am Dlx Start HSS and initially when i tried to put in the trem it was pretty stiff.Took me a few times before finally there's the "pop" that holds the arm in place.....i guess for your case try putting in slowly and feel the pressure till it pops into place...
Good luck!

Congrats project!!From then onwards future "popping" of the trem arm would be easy, its the initial one that gonna takes some effort....hmmmm, reminds me of something though..
