Legal procedings. Read closely who Janie is. Jimi's estate went to his Dad and when his Dad died it went to his adopted daughter who was from his second Wife he had adopted her Child when they Married. She is not related to Jimi.

Things got more complex when Al died in 2002. At the time, the Hendrix estate was worth about $80 million, which went almost entirely to Al's adopted daughter Janie. Al had divorced Jimi's mother in the late 1950s and adopted Janie when he married her mother in 1968. Jimi's brother, Leon, alleged that Janie manipulated Al into writing Leon and his children out of the will, and sued to be written back in. In the same suit, other beneficiaries claimed that they received nothing while Janie and a cousin in charge of the estate grossly mismanaged and abused trust funds.

The nearly three-month trial saw an allegation that Janie spent $1.7 million on her corporate credit card and an insinuation that Leon was a drug addict looking for a free ride. In the end, Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell of the King County Superior Court in Washington handed down small victories for both sides. Ramsdell didn't believe that Janie preyed on Al's weakened state and coerced him to ax Leon from the will. Instead, Ramsdell noted that Leon's drug use, demands for money, and threats of litigation provided reason enough for Al to change his estate plan. Quite simply, according to Judge Ramsdell, "Janie was the family member Al trusted the most."

I was surprised to learn not too long ago that Jimi had quite a few siblings, more than just Leon. I don't recall the book's title, but it was one of the more recent ones. These siblings ended up in various places for various reasons, economic and medical.

It was claimed (by Al Hendrix and the author) that many of these sibilings were not fathered by Al. So they would have been half-brothers and -sisters to Jimi. Al even claimed that Leon was not his, so that's one of the reasons that Al did not leave anything to Leon.

Maybe it's because he played his Strat upside down?

Yeah but reading of JH's home visits its apparent that JH thought of him as a brother.

And, not to be forgotten: there is another Fender Endorsee whose contract contains a clause stipulating that no other endorsement contract could provide a fee higher than his own. (The Monterey was earlier than that)
So you probably won't see any JH whatever Strat for a while.

there was actually a official Hendrix signature Strat
it had reversed body (control on top)
reversed neck, reversed logo and reversed bridge pickup
Fender soon ran another Hendrix Strat with
normal body and reversed neck together with this
named Hendrix Vodoo Strat
both were produced from around 1998

jimi played regular production strats.
there was realy nothing special about them
other than the person playing them.
i have a orignal 1970 strat same type jimi played.
also i consider the highway ones to be very close
to what jimi played also. the only differnce with the
highway one are the pickups everything else is pretty
much the same. i do like the alnico III pick ups.
if you have any of these stated above and a few changes
you have what jimi had. so personaly i would not pay thousands
of dollars for a standard strat with someone name one it .
and to line the pockets of jani hendrix who has no right to
the estate in the first place.

I'm possibly way too fussy but the fact that Fender has always flipped the Fender logo on the JH strats to make the Fender logo readable from the audience has bugged me. If you look at Jimis' strats, the logo is upside down as it should be!

I've always wanted to snag a used left-handed strat and reverse the nut and saddles and have a go at it.

Personally, I wouldn't buy ANY sig Strat unless it had my name on it. I would just mod one and make it my own.
The Hendrix estate is an awful thing. The whole sig guitar thing is nothing more than a money making scheme.

I dont think anyone would want to see the days of one strat one tele one Pbass come back. Imagine having to wait years for a bit of variation. And if you dont buy one with the spec's you like before they sell out you have to trawl the 2nd hand market for one.
I dont like the idea of sharing a guitar with someone elses signature but when you let the marketing people loose they are going to target whats popular. Popular music artists are a great source of variation for fender. There have been some terrific idea's because of their input.

I think the important thing here is the the legacy of Jimi lives on in OUR souls as we listen to his music, discuss his playing, and aspire to be as courageous in our playing as he once was.

Very well said Freeze. Bravo. Hendrix is the one guitarist I have never tried to emulate. For me, the way he played is akin to something, well holy for lack of a better word. I much more enjoy listening to his music, the fascinating chord structures and lyrics than trying to play them. No matter how good I get, I'll never be in his league.

I know of one cat, and their are most likely many others, that has completely cracked the JH "code" and he doesn't use a strat or a Marshall. His custom built guitar (that actually looks like a chicken) has the initials JMH emblazoned on the headstock. He also named his first boy James Marshall ,,,,,,! If you heard him play, you'd know what I mean.

Of course, few had the insane showmanship skills that JH had!

That's right. I won't. There was nothing wrong with one Strat, Tele etc.
That's how it was when I bought mine. There was no confusion. Just what color, hardtail or Trem and a couple of different necks. o simple even a caveman could do it. Imagine this, finding a nice guitar and modding it yourself so you have your own unique tone. How do you think Clapton, Beck and every other musician created his signature tone?

And guess what? When you buy one of these beauties, you'll sound nothing like the guy who has his name on the headstock.
