Help! I have a 2006 Anniversary HSS purchased new last August. Soon after owning, I experienced and still am, an intermittent problem with the S1 switching. I sometimes get absolutely no sound when the button is depressed with the switch all the way to the neck position and (at the same time) when the button is up with the switch in the center position. Anyone else experience this??

Hi Mikamac: I have an S1 switch equiped 2005 Strat and have not had a problem with it - though I don't use the switch much, so I don't know how well it might wear.

Sounds like your switch is U/S. I don't know if you've seen one: it has a tiny printed circuit board on the bottom which I doubt admits of repair. You need a new one put in.

No matter when the guitar was made, if you bought it as new last summer then your one year warranty dates from that moment. Go get your guitar fixed under warranty by any authorised Fender dealer.

Cheers - C

Fixing this type of problem involves a process of elimination.
Firstly when does the issue occur i.e. with the S1 depressed or up?
Does it happen to just one pickup i.e. with the pickup selecter in one or two positions.
It can be anumber of things including a dud S1, a dud pickup or a wiring issue.
If you are not confident with fixing it yourself I would recommend initially determining when the problem arises and taking it to a reputable repairman.
Hope this helps :D
