Whatz up!
Can somebody please shed a little light for me.Did not Dave Murry(IRON MAIDEN)strats consist of seymore Duncan hot rails and a Floyd Rose tremolo's
So what is this. I'm sorry players but i feel very let down especially since i've been waiting for quite a while to find one, the tone just rocks! And now i see that on his new signiture model he's got Dimarzio's and a 6point symchronized trem. Not that their's anything wrong with either one,i've got em both and love em.But facts are facts. And i just don't feel that that strat is historically accurate. Do :( es anybody get this or am i the only one.
Best of regards all
and cheers,
the kemster

Articles I've seen say that Dave Murray used DiMarzio pickups.

Google it.

I'm with you, PKK ... I'm looking at an article right now that says Dave used Seymour Duncan Hotrails (in the bridge I presume) back in 2000. I guess it depends on what year ... I happen to have a Dimarzio fast Track 1 hotrail in my bridge and i just put in a Seymour Duncan Little '59 in the neck - likely to leave vintage single coils in the middle.

I thought Dave & Adrian both had a pretty similar setup, both using Seymour Duncan, but as you can see, other people find other details. On the DVDs I have I can clearly see Seymour Duncan Hotrails & JB Jr's ... with a Floyd Rose tremolo.

That's the route I'm going ... I was a little disappointed too.

in his early models he used a Dimarzio PAF in the neck and Super Distortion in the bridge,i made a replica of that guitar and im gonna post some pics tonight, but from the mid to late 90s until now hes been using hot rails and cool rails and even some super distortion every now and than, once in a while if your lucky he'll play his original strat! UP THE IRONS!

Equipment
Throughout his career, Murray has used and endorsed Marshall amplifiers and has used Fender Stratocasters almost exclusively. His black 1957 Stratocaster previously owned by late Free guitarist Paul Kossoff (used from circa 1976-1990 and made by Fender as an Artist Signature model since 2009 - http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0118802806) now resides in a glass case at his home. Although he has been occasionally seen with various Dean, Gibson, Ibanez, ESP and Jackson electrics as well as his acoustic guitar arsenal, Murray's primary instrument has been a Stratocaster. He used the DiMarzio Super Distortion and PAF in his Strats before switching to Seymour Duncan JB's and Hot Rails in the 1990s. He also occasionally uses Seymour Duncan SH-11 Custom blade-coil humbuckers.

Guitar Specs
Ernie Ball Strings(.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042)
Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucking pickups
"Original" Floyd Rose Locking Tremolo Systems
His black '57 Stratocaster sports a humbucker/single-coil/humbucker configuration - DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100 (bridge), American Vintage '57/'62 (middle), DiMarzio PAF DP-103 (neck) - with 3-way switching and American Vintage hardware.

this is what Wikipedia says

I have seen Maiden six times and have never seen dave use the 57 that fender has sone the sig model of.....I allways saw the rig with the hot rails and floyd rose (color looks yellow or antique white)

both guitars are cool but i belive i like the 57 with the Dimarzio pickups better.....

I can't wait to get my hands on one. I would have prefered to have the Floyd Rose on it; however, I'll take it like it is. I just hope that it is not too expensive at the store, but I fear it will be out of my price range for a couple years.

Oh my...$2000 for the model. I can mod one for less money than that with the Floyd, just no Signature.

Dave used that original Strat into the late '80's. He did use some Jackson and ESP super strats for awhile until he came up with the current model he now plays, which uses Hotrails in all positions and the Floyds. I myself did like other Forum members built my own tribute using a '08 Highway One. Kluson Deluxe tuners, Tusq nut, DiMarzio Super Distortiion an Area '58 and a 36th Anniversary P.A.F. Custom wiring harness on a custom pickplate I made myself.

Man that is sweet! Nice tapestry on the wall too - I used to have a killer poster from back in the early 80s that I bought @ Spencer's Gifts. I kept it for years - even rolled it up with some Cinderella and other posters -- then for some dumb reason about 25 years later, I trashed them :( Wish I still had them.

Anyone own this guitar? or have the chance to play it?

We have 2 Fender dealers in our town and this isn't the type of item you get in just to have on display or hanging on the rack (so to speak). This leaves internet purchase. Any worthwhile, helpful comments about this guitar?

Thanks for that link. I hadn't yet searched to find out the cost.

And thanks to angelripper1 for that scan.

Yeah, I really want one, but by the time I saved for it, it would most likely be discontinued. It is a sweet guitar and I am a HUGE Maiden fan. I am starting to save, I just hope my GAS does not get the better of me before I can purchace. If it is discontinued I will have to make one or have one made in the CS.

It's tough choice whether I'm going to buy an Am Std. Strat or save up for a Dave Murray sig. Both are very tempting..
