I would have 2 different customs...both Strats. The first, an American HSS (hardtail) with a Dimebucker in the bridge and 2 Texas Specials in the middle/neck and an ash body. The other is much more special...

Birdseye maple neck, 70's headstock, mother-of-pearl star inlays with an American flag on the 12th fret, a SD 59 in the bridge and 2 Texas Specials in the middle/neck (with black clovers). Also the body being made of ash and finished with a black nitro finish.

Ah...I can dream...

i am a Left Handed Player i would love a Righty Strung Lefty Olympic White American Deluxe Stratocaster with SCN pickups and a Maple Neck with a Fat CBS Style Headstock like the 1968 Style Stratocaster and a Vintage Syncronized Tremolo System with 5 springs and the New Fender " F " logo tuners like the new american deluxe ... Awesome Jamming Instument that will take a great pounding for years to come ...... Something Jimi Would Be Proud Of ..... :)

Funnily enough i'm going to view a custom shop guitar tomorow that comes quite close to my dream guitar. A candy apple red 62 custom classic with scn's and s1. 7.25" radius will clinch it for me if the guitar has it. Not quite the multi switching mid boosted dream guitar i had imagined but about as close as i'm going to get whilst keeping the appearance of the guitar close to the original.

It would be a toss up between 2 (Or I could get both :P)

1. An original late 50s/early 60s strat
- Nicely worn, but nothing too crazy
- Most likely rosewood fretboard, but wouldn't complain about maple
- Sunburst, Olympic White, or Surf Green

2. Jimi Hendrix Monterey Strat

If it came down to it I think I would take the vintage over the Hendrix, but it would be a tough choice no doubt

I have been trying out the American Deluxe at our local Guitar Center here in Peoria, and I really, REALLY like it. it has a tobacco sunburst finish, SCN pickups, a rosewood fingerboard and the new style vibrato bar. It has the S-1 switching system, and is as quiet as any Strat I have ever played. While I have yet to own a Strat of any kind, this is going to be my next guitar. I have played for almost 33 years, and I am quickly falling in love with the Strat sound. The neck is gorgeous, too!
