Hey
I recently purchased a Classic Player 60's Strat online and the sticker on the pick guard says it has a 9.5 inch radius neck opposed to the 12 inch shown in the fender specs. Has fender made a mistake on the sticker or spec chart? Does anyone know about it?

Thanks

It could be a 2009 classic players strat is lined up for a 9.5" radius and the details havent been updated yet.

How does it feel?

Glad to see your post. I also bought a CP 60 with the 9.5 neck. I purchased mine from GC. The serial number on mine is for the 2007-2008 year so I don't think this is a case of the early release of a 2009.

I suppose that it doesn't really matter because I love the guitar. But it would be nice to hear someone from Fender weigh in on this.

No they all have a 12" radius neck. They have been printed with the 9.5" radius sticker and specs since the beginning but they have always been 12". Fender has just been too lazy to correct it. I used to own one about 2 years ago, and there was a debate about it then but someone actually measured it and it was 12" radius

Thanks Yogi.

I don't know the correct way to measure the radius so I was left to wonder....

The above statement is on the specs page.
I would bet that if it says 9.5 it is a 9.5 we had this issue with another guitar last year where the specs changed on the guitar. Get a shop to put a Radius gauge on there and you would see.

Yeah but it said 9.5 back when they came out on the guitar too, but it was 12", and the newer necks feel exactly the same. This almost the same thing as the AY vs non AY pickups. I have owned an AY and played the newer ones and they sound exactly the same

I may have a set of early '70s AY pickups. Her operator numbers (which were stamped onto the backs of the pickups) way back then were 6 and later 7 according to
http://www.ggjaguar.com/neckcode2.htm

But I don't know what years she was 6 or 7, so some old pickups I have might have been wound by her or might not. :?

Its easy to check. Also like I said there was a Forum Member that had this same type of issue and he found it to be a 9.5 if I am remembering correctly. That was back some while ago so I don't remember the specifics but he was the one that was told about the disclamer at the bottom of the specs page.

Hey it could be a regional thing. Perhaps all the Cp60s in Alabama are 12" radii and different regions got different batches. It wouldn't surprise me

Print this off on post card stock paper, cut it out with an exacto knife. The next time you take your strings off you can use this to see if it is 12 or 9.5.
Make sure it is to scale after you print it off.
