If I have a 22 fret neck, say off of a hwy. 1 guitar, is there a limit to which body I can put it on. Will modifications need to be made if I use anything other than a Hwy. 1 Strat.

If you mean on another Strat body as long as the holes line up there should not be a problem that I can see.

Yes I plan on using a strat body, it's the 22nd fret overlap that sticks out past the neck heel. Is that going to sit right on a body that didn't originally have a 22 fret neck on it?

majority belief is that fender just put a overhang on the fretboard which contains the 22nd fret. So yeah you should be ok, providing your using a genuine fender body. Squires are smaller so they may be a different animal.

I had read on Axeblaster.com a guy had trouble with pickguard clearance.
They reccomend that he sand down the bottom of the fretboard. Wouldn't it be better to alter the pickguard?
This is a project guitar for my 13 yo daughter and I want her to be involved in the building of it. ( and not to appear to be a complete idiot myself )
We have not purchaced the body as yet, and there are soooo many to choose from. ie Vintage RI, MIA,MIJ, MIM, SSS, HSS, 3 hole, 4 hole, It's hard to find reliable info on things like...Are all neck pockets 2-3/16"? Is the 4 hole pattern the same dimentions on all Fender strats? and a million other questions. I guess I'll take the plunge and see what happens.

Thanks for the input

Well the thing to do would be to buy a MIA deluxe body then. That way your guaranteed a fit. Yknow pickguards can be moved and like you said they are a better option for sanding than a neck which in my belief contains important tone-wood.

Hope you enjoy that project anyway mate. I've 3 daughters and i cant even give em guitars, i tried.

Sound advice from a wise man....Our path is now clear and our rock-n-roll destiny awaits.
My daughter Zoe said "If it will make Nikininja feel like a more complete,
all around great guy, superhero father figure, I would be willing to accept a guitar on his daughters behalf." Rather nice of her I'd say!
These kids are so generous these days.

Thanks again for the advice

My 13 yo daughters band doing "sunshine of your love"
Video and sound and stage volume a little ragged.
She's the one to the far right w/the cream strat.
The kid playing (way to loud) the leads is only 12 yrs old !
The sad part is he is an even better drummer!

UTTER SH  CK

Thats tremendous. Guess its true that texas is the spawning ground of guitar greats.

I have a guitar that i'd happily give to such a talent, but its not a fender and the cost of shipping from england to TX would probably be more than the guitar is worth to buy new.

Really congratulate your daughter for me. Thats some tremendous playing on youtube, i wish i could of performed with such authenticity at 18 never mind 13.

I have put a highway one neck to a fender mexican body ... it fit perfectly with no problems at all and no sanding of any kind needed... :)

I wish I would have joined a long time ago!

Nikininja,
Your praise and kindness has meant alot to Zoe and I.
Hopefully a better video is around the corner, I'll post it when it does.
