Last week, I picked up a used 1997 Fender American Standard Strat on eBay, it showed up yesterday and it's awesome. It has Texas Specials in it and a Tortoise Shell pickguard, so I thought it was a Roadhouse, but it's an All Parts pickguard, so I'm sure it's all aftermarket stuff. Anyway, it's a little more beat than I was lead on to believe, but it plays nice and sounds fantastic. I was debating putting some Vintage Noiseless pickups in or maybe swapping out the bridge for a Seymour Duncan Cool Rails, but I'm pretty happy with the sound, so we'll see. I am going to switch the wiring a bit next time I restring it, I'm going to wire it like my Highway One Strat where the middle pickup isn't wired to the tone control and the bridge is. I also may but in a Vitamin Q cap like in my Les Paul.

Thanks, they are pretty good pickups. I like to play a lot of heavier music, so the Texas Specials aren't supposed to be a good fit. In truth, they have a nice distorted tone but get kind of noisy. I may just swap the bridge pickup, since that's what is going to be played mainly with heavier songs. The neck and middle are probably going to stay, but I still may swap them all out for a Vintage Noiseless set. I have Hot Noiseless pickups in my Highway One and couldn't be happier and I really like the Vintage Noiseless too. I'm going to leave it as is for a while and see what happens.
