First congratulations! on your new purchase! Wow! A lot of people are very interested in the new rosewood model and would love to know how they feel. Now that you have one, tell us all about it. How is the neck shape different from the original maple board version? Does it have more of a sixties C or oval shape, or fifties V? Does it feel smaller or larger? Since I haven't had the pleasure of trying one yet, does the binding make it feel any different when using the thumb for chords? Eric mentioned a stronger bridge pup,do you notice any differences there? I'm sure they sound GREAT, and some new colors too! Eric said the new model would be a little different. Help us out with some insight on the differences you've noticed about it. I'm sure that there is tons of people dying to know more about the newest EJ so let it rip right here! Thanks

Hey thanks for the clip of eric playing the new guitar. Would like to hear from new owners describe the way the neck on the new rosewood feels... with regards to its shape, size, binding, etc, also bridge pups comparisons. That is what has been mentioned, as being different from original maple version.

MF is taking preorders on them right now, so I don't think your going to get many responses until they officially start shipping.
There certainly is a lot of buzz about this new Strat, but, a THOUSAND dollar mark up for a new neck design is crazy!! They are trying to get $$2500 bucks!!

Thanks for the thread...NICE guitar! very interesting too, It sounds like he got lucky, since he didn't get to play it before buying it. Can't wait to try one myself. Is WW the only store that has them so far?

Hi Hop: you and I probably prefer maple, and I guess if the cash was in my sticky little hand I'd opt for the maple EJ.

But it would only be after a struggle: that bound neck fascinates me a lot...

Cheers - C

You're right Ceri! I am a maple man! I was just commenting on how nice the guitar looked, but not my style. I really am satisfied with the ones I have, which is a good thing according to the little wife!
Cheers to ya!!

+1 Here ..... 2510 for just a RW fretboard is ridiculous.....I always prefer Rosewood to maple ... but the markup is not worth it IMO.....Although I love that guitar ... is the fretboard bound or is it just my eyes.

The clean tone is coming from the silverfaces, then over to the left is the marshall he uses for his overdriven lead tones. He also adds pedals to further the sound.

I purchased the new EJ rosewood strat (Medium Palomino Metallic) at Guitar Center late last month for $1,999. I went in to check out the Gibson ES-339, saw the EJ hanging on the wall, and decided to give it a try. I played a lot of guitars on this particular day, and as the typical story goes, kept coming back to the EJ. Played acoustically it absolutey sings, and plugged in the tones are to die for. I had no desire to buy a signature guitar, and as I said I had intentions of purchasing a Gibson, but this guitar was just too good to pass up (I like the fact that his signature is not on the guitar - the only evidence that is an EJ model is on the back).

I believe that they had just put the guitar out; other than the GC employees, I was the first one to play it! I have a Deluxe Tele with a fat maple neck - the shape and feel of the EJ neck and rosewood fretboard is really nice to play, and a nice contrast to the baseball bat feel the Tele has.
