I put a nice Fender Strat neck on my Variax and it saved the guitar from being pitched!

Cool. I have a MIJ neck that needs a body.....actually not sure if I should build another guitar with it or keep it as a spare, because you never know.....

Going the other way, Tom Verlaine's main performing guitar these days is a sanded-down hardtail Strat body with a vintage Jazzmaster neck. It's nice that one can mix and match to taste.
