Has anyone installed an N-Tune system in an old Strat yet? How reliable is it and does it interfere with anything?

Tuning is of major importance to me and tho I can do it well without such a device, if this device is good it would definitely save a lot of time....

Anybody? Anything to say about this?

Thanks for any info...

Keni

I have seen those n-tunes in the past and asked myself the same question.... they look nice and the idea of having one permanently on your axe sounds nice...... :)

Back in the 70's I met a guy in the nirth bay area of San Frnacisco who was building guitars with built-in motorized tuners and I've been on the watch for the emergence of them...

This one sounds like it's still a bit of the past... Simply building a tuner (reader) into the guitar whereas the new guitars available by Fender's biggest competitor has motorized auto-tune... which I'm still a bit squeemish about as there's been so little progress in this field for so many years...

The mechanized stuff just seems like more stuff to break to me.

Seems to me a better place for this would be in your amp, on a circuit that bypasses the normal 2 or 3 channels. with a little lcd readout.

I already have a tuner built into my pre-amp... But it can be difficult and requires that I'm near enuf to read it...

As to mech being more to break down? Of course, but that doesn't mean that it's not worth having... Nobody likes things that break down, but we use what makes our work convenient/comfotable.... I mean... why use an ELECTRIC guitar when all that amp and processing gear could break? ...Then again, why use a guitar when strings can break? I'm sure you get my thought here...

Thanks...
Keni

All about the cost to reward ratio

Using an electric and amp = great sound, whole new tonal landscape, etc. Worth using even at risk of it breaking and you having to go without.

Built in auto tuner = a little less hassle than using the outboard model. But if it breaks, huge hassle of not having your guitar til fixed.

There comes a time when you actually have to consider whether a gadget is worth it.
