Blues is what I choose so Neck is my favorite, followed by Buddy Guy's favorite choice, the Neck/Mid. On rare occasions I'll push it down to Bridge and play some surf.

Neck/ middle,bridge/middle and other varieties less. Lately I've turned my tone knobs way back and I'm liking that warm sound a lot.

Is it fate? Can a guitar be made for you and you just happen to run into it?

As I mentioned above, I'm definitely loving my Highway One that I got about a month ago. Had been playing bridge/middle, neck, neck/bridge. Strange thing about it though, the bridge alone dropped off and was weaker than the bridge/middle, which was very good. The only other thing that was imperfect was the factory setting on the tremolo was the three-spring set up for a lot of vibrato from the tremolo. That worked well, but I use a left-hand vibrato unless I'm cheating to get vibrato on a full chord in a difficult section of BB or something. So the loose bridge had a tendency to put vibrato where none was needed from like guitar movement, body movement etc. Some of the time I play some very non-blues guitar music with a lot of arpeggio-style rifs on open chords where you don't want any vibrato unless you throw a little in to spice it up but definitely you don't want unintentional vibrato.

I opened up my old Squier Strat and grabbed a couple of the springs. It had four springs instead of the standard 3 for a Squier because back when I got it many years ago I was dating a lady who had a friend who was dating a luthier in Fender's custom shop, and I think he put in an extra spring. So, I took two springs out of the Squier. Then I opened up the back of the Highway One Stratocaster I got about a month ago and I put in two extra springs for a total of 5.

Wow. Now with the bridge lower against the body it's tight with no chance of accidental tremolo. Here's what's really cool. With the lower bridge, the bridge pickup came alive becoming my most articulate and crystaline pickup, with just a hint of vintage. It's amazing. Once I modified it from the factory setup to make it tight since I use fretting hand vibrato and want absolutely pitch-perfect notes with no incidental vibrato, the bridge pickup was perfectly set up.

Maybe that's one difference with an American guitar. Somebody over at Corona set that guitar up so it would be perfect with five springs. Kudos to Fender.
