well this isn´t a new post. But well from time to time is great check how is the taste of everyone. well here is the idea. Which is the best solo hear until this day. Choose any style (blues, rock, jazz, etc.). and if you want an example.

well for me it´s very hard choose one i hear and love a lot. but i must say the most amazing solo i ever hear is (of course) "Confortably numb (Live)" from "Pulse" (a Fender guy with all the words).

Today I'm feeling Carlos Santana on Black Magic Woman, but normally I would've said Gilmour On An Island. I like too much and it depends on the day you ask...or rather the day I answer.

OK, the first that comes to mind is Steve Vai's solo at the end of "Ease" on that 1986 P.I.L. album (called...erm.."Album" "Cassette" or "CD"). Perhaps it's because the rest of the album was a bit dull to slog through, but it sounds as if John Lydon told Vai he could do whatever he liked right at the end...and he soars like I've not heard him do before or since. A real hidden gem.

Alright, Alright! "Comfortably Numb" is probably what cemented Gilmour at the top of my list of players, but you REALLY have to check out his earlier work on "Atom Heart Mother," "Meddle," "Obscured by Clouds," and IMNSHO, the most under-rated PF album, "Animals," to get the full scope of what the man can wring out of a Strat. I mean, yeah, we all know, "Dark Side," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Wall," but there's a HELLUVA lot more!

So many great solos...

But, since someone threw out NY's "Down by the River," I'll add "Cowgirl in the Sand," from the same album.

Oh, and George's short and sweet lead in "Something" is something I would have sold my soul to come up with!

For me it has to be George Harrison on 'Something'. Not just a filler verse, but an emotional climax with as much meaning as the lyrics. It doesn't have a million notes, but you know I'm right.
