i hear from time to time that higher strings gives more tone & deep sound when you use a strat (srv is an example). I got a rì´62 strat (mij) with texas special. I usually use 0,10" D´addario. I want to get more deep and bright sound (i don´t want to sound like SRV but almost near...i hope).
should i change to 0,11" ?; what brand is really the best (i use from time to time "La bella" or D´addario).
thanks for read this...

If you want a brighter tone thicker strings won't help. I have Texas Specials in my Squier Strat, with Ernie Ball .12's. It has a very deep sound, but not bright. I can get it to come somewhere near SRV's sound, but not exactly.

Heavier stings can sound better, but it can cost you playability. SRV tuned down as well so that’s part of his sound. AND he brought the pickups pretty close to the strings.
You may want to play with pickup height a bit, but keep a good record of where your at now, so if you make things worse you know where to go back to.
Another option to look into is the BBE Sonic Stomp. It will really fatten up your sound without loosing crisp treble. (Use the controls sparingly however)

Strings made by different companies even in the same gauge will sound a little different. You may want to experiment with different strings in the same gauge before changing gauges.

I find elixir strings quite dark. Ernie's and diaddario's quite evenly balanced and fenders to be bright in comparison to them. Rotosound and dean markely i havent used in years an years i couldnt comment on em.
