Hello All,

I have been playing a '71 reissue guitar SG for about 3 years now and am looking to expand my axe stable and pick up sopme new tonality and sounds to play with. I have been looking at the Strat American standard and the Strat American Deluxe, but I am not really getting the difference between the two.

I do mainly worship music and Blues based rock and rockabilly. Which one should I concentrate on?

Any replies would be extremely helpful.

Am Deluxe all the way. Not much more $ but plenty of features. I prefer the SCN pickups to the vintage noiseless, S1 switch, locking tuners, and a bit better worksmanship on the fret and nut.

I own an American Deluxe V Neck Strat and it's awesome. One of the most verstile axes I've ever played on, which is why I chose it as my first guitar  . And as for the guitar poll I would pick David Gilmour, but he's not on there :( ...

You are not going to go wrong with either of these guitars.

Thanks for all the replies so quick. I was leaning toward the noiseless pickups. Do they tend to damp the sound somewhat? I would really like a nice vintage tone but without the 60 Hz hum.

The SCN's are noiseless and they were designed by bill lawrence. You might also want to look into the vintage noiseless or the kinmans, some people like those better.

I'm kind of a purest when it comes to guitars. I prefer the Standard because limitations force you to be creative. I have an '88 Standard that has absolutely fabulous tone. Honestly makes me cry sometimes it's so beautiful even through my cheap five watt crate practice amp. As far as the humming, don't really mind or notice. Maybe I'm going deaf, I know my neighbors are...

I love the S1 switch. The Deluxe has it and the Standard doesn't.

I just purchase an American deluxe two months ago and I like the way the SCN's sound. I played a lot of guitars before I settled on this one. I went back and forth between the C and v neck and chose the V neck.

I too play worship. The Deluxe with s-1 switching makes this guitar the best choice for any style of music. Imagine being able to pull off a huge United Live sound one song, then go straight to a Lincoln Brewster sound the next then right to a super sweet and soulful Paul Baloche all without changing guitars. Hands down the Deluxe is the more versitile of the two. The tone is also way smoother and much more color.

Deluxe all the way.

It depends on how much you can spend. If you can afford american deluxe, I would go for that because you will get all features of standard series + S1 switch and noiseless pickups (IMO biggest improvement).

I bought my deluxe a few months back (end of November) and I really like the tone I get with the neck and middle pickups in series (S-1 button pushed down and selector to the neck).

It gives me a darker sound with great sustain.

The only thing I'm worried now is that two days ago the neck pickup started dropping the sound from time to time. It must be the contact or something, because when I push the pickup down, it starts working again.

Maybe I'll service it and see if I can get it fixed on the warranty.

Just remember: the deluxe doesn't sound all the time like a regular strat. You've certainly got more options with this baby.
