Hi,

I've been looking at the VG strat to solve some of my issues in my small studio (it's not in my bedroom) . I'm not a good guitar player so I have to have colleagues come in to play the more challenging guitar parts. Sometimes part of the deal is that they they will show up if they don't have to bring their gear. Usually they are not happy with my guitars. Which I admit are junk. Two of my pals suggested that I have a good Strat and Gibson LP on hand as this would satisfy a wide range of players.
I'm looking at the VG Strat because from the marketing material it is an American Strat + the special electronics. So I'm thinking that even if they don't like the special electronics, then at least they have an American Strat in their hands.

So guitar players - if you showed up a studio sans your own gear - would you be happy with VG Strat in your hands? Or would you prefer a "regular" Strat?

Thanks!

The VG Strat does a very good job of emulating a wide range of guitar types: Strat, Tele and "Humbucker Style" (Gibson) as well as providing a range of other sounds like 12 string, acoustic and alternative tunings.

I use a VG on stage from time to time as it saves having to have multiple guitars on stage, but I guess it could do exactly the same for a studio situation.

So if you can only buy one guitar, the VG is probably a very good choice.

I view the VG strat (moddellers too) as tools for live performances. Great for when you only want to cart around just a few items. In the studio I would prefer (and expect) to play the real thing.

I bought the special edition ash strat and I love it
I thought about buying an american strat but the ash strat is made in corea. I did some research and found out that it is just as good as the american strats and the wiring is actually better. I would go with something like that if you want a trat under $700 and is just as good as an amereican strat and doesnt have screws in the wrong places like the mexi stats do.
