I am thinking of replacing the pickups in my mexican made strat. I was thinking of the dimarzio area 58 and 61 pickups. Does anyone have any strong feelings about that choice?

I do!

I have an Area 67 in the neck, an Area 58 in the middle and an Area 61 in the bridge of my #1 Stratocaster. After over 42 years of playing and trying practically every brand and designer pickup out there, this combo is by leaps and bounds, the absolute best I've ever heard.

Food for thought. Thanks guys! I've been looking for ideas for replacement pickups for my Highway-One series Strat.

I have an area 67 in the neck, an are 58 in the middle and a dimarzio paf pro in the bridge. Love the sound of them and the best part is no 60 cycle hum.

Hi Martian,

I have a question for you, does that Dimarzio combination of area 67,58,61
still maintain the "Strat" sound and how would you compare it to the Custom shop SCN pickups?

You posted a while back with a Fender combination of CS69, Fat 50, texas Special, how does this compare to the Dimarzio combination?

Thanks for your insights & experience

Regards.

The Dimarzio Area range of pickups sound VERY stratty. If you want a single coil sound without the hum, this is a great option.

I have the Area 58 in neck and middle and a 61 in the bridge. They are fantastic.

Hi

Thanks for the info. I want to try and make a "Jack of all trades" type of guitar the best I can (I only have one guitar, poor me  )

I like the SRV, Clapton, Hendrix, Gilmore type of tone and I know the Amp and the fingers make a big difference, but I want to have a guitar that will help to achieve the tones I want.

I play mosty 70's rock, Blues and a little "hard rock" will this pick up combination be what I am looking for ? or get 2 guitars.

Thanks.

Regards

My main Strat has a Super Distortion in the bridge, an Area '58 in the mid and a 36th Anniversary P.A.F. in the neck. My second Strat has a Super Distortion 3 in the bridge with Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 in the mid and neck. the Area '58 and VV Blues are awesome sounding pups.

My main Strat is a Jimmie Vaughan. I put an Area '58 in the middle, and Area '61s in the bridge and neck positions. They sound VERY true to the pickups they are trying to emulate. One thing I did notice is these pups aren't as sensitive to height adjustment as regular Strat pups.

I have a Malsteen pickup made for his Japanese model in my bridge postion. It is very powerful and stronger than the neck and middle. It is fabulous for leads.
