Try the pickguard shield that comes with the '62 Reissues. You can find it on Musiciansfriend, not expensive and will fit right under your pickguard. This will really help to shield the guitar without spending hours under there with sheilding tape.

Those help a little bit but the one I am referring to is the same size as the pickguard and is pretty thick. It is not adhered to anything but rather just bolts on using the 11 screws that hold the pickguard on.

Here you go- http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=361400

When using this shield and the vintage wiring schematic where the spring claw is connected to the ground lead of the output jack you will have very little noise.

Personally I like this copper one:

Also, I would shield the cavity while your at it. It's not really that hard.

Make sure you do not have a ground loop in your circut to start?

Would you please explain what you mean by "ground loop"?

The circuitry is grounded to the input jack, the tremolo claw and also to the body (for whatever that's worth).

Thanks.
It is where any of the grounds start at one point then goes to another and ends back where they started by any connection thats a loop and can cause interference in the circut.

That's basically what I thought that meant. I dont think so, but I'll check it out again.

Thanks you.

I have seen people have a ground going from vol.pot to tone pot then next tone back to volume then out to ground from there. Thats talking in a loop

Yah, the pot circuitry I picked up is quite confusing, appears to be very interconnected relative to the wiring diagram that came with the pickups.

I'll follow all those black wires around and around. thanks.

That's why I was suggesting vintage wiring and shielding techniques. Simple as can be and absolutely no chance of a ground loop.
