Hello Blaqdog,

For as much as I enjoy
music and instruments.
Neither of my parents or
sisters{3} took this path.

Cheers.

No! My grandmother played piano and mandolin when she was a girl, but that was before talking movies and radio. That's how they entertained themselves. The only things my parents ever played . . . were records.

Lots of musicians in the elder generation of one side of my family.
Seemed to kinda skip my dad's generation, though he did play violin (well, fiddle moreso, he woulda got mad at me for saying violin,) but only one of his cousins,(who was a multi-instrumentalist, he taught guitar ,banjo, piano ,accordion and ,drums.)

However in my generation and my generations' kids there are a lot of us who play.

None whatsoever on the other side of the family. Well, I have a cousin who dabbles in guitar, and another who tried playing bass after I got in my first band. he is the only person I have ever known who absolutely couldn't get better, no matter how much he practiced.

Well i wish, I taught my dad some drums so we can jam together due to the fact that rap has taken over my city and i know about four kids who appreciate good music, but thats besides the point. Other than that, no!

I'm the only musically inclined person in my family, being trained in traditional percussion and self taught guitar. Although my father did try his hand at singing at one time, it didn't take him far.

As far as I'm aware, my sister and myself are the only members of my entire family who have ever had the desire to play anything. Her husband, however, comes from an extremely musical family where most of the kids start playing guitar as soon as they can pick it up...

My grandfather plays drums in a cowboy swing band, and my Dad took up bass when I was about 10 but that's it. The rest of my family don't play anything, but they're big music fans and I grew up listening to a bunch of music.

Hi Blaqdog.....my dad is a guitar player. He was in those 60's band and loved Clapton. He had a couple of record with his band and played at a local nite clubs before he finally gave up in his 30's.He had a 62 sunburst strat (don't know what ever happened to it).....he didn't encourage me to follow his path and rather divert my interest to academics but ironically he bought a classical guitar for my sis  whom later gave it to me a few years later.
Though i wasn't interested in playing any instruments but i had a sense of rhythm and love to hear beats/counts....so i joined the school brass band and was playing the cornet. In my teens i took interest with the guitar but end up playing the drums then moved on to bass and finally to the six string up till now.......after more than 2 dozen electrics i finally bought my first strat and now i have 3 of them.

My dad used to sing (but hasn't in a long time), my mother plays classical guitar, and my brother likes jazz saxophone.

I didn't come from a musical family, I wish I did. My 12 year old son started playing over the summer and he is obsessed with guitar. Him and his friends are a bunch of little metalheads!

My Father worked in the marketing (now retired) from the record label (not to mention any names). My entire family was always exposed to a lot of free music (ohhh, I remember getting those Iron Maiden LP hot of the press) and professional musicians. But I was the first one to want to play an instrument. I am kind of working on my brother o start playing drums. The guy has a great feel for rhythm but is too busy.
