For a couple of years now I have noticed that Strat owners and sellers on e-bay will throw out the title “50th Anniversary Strat” and “60th Anniversary Strat” for any Strat that has a little gold oval sticker or small round metal sticker on the back of the head stock. These are NOT Anniversary models. They are guitars that were built by Fender during those years. Only Fender guitars that have the "50th Anniversary" Neck plate are the real deal. The 60th Anniversary models have a small diomand in the headstock. Everything else is just a normal run of the mill Strat of Tele.

The Anniversary Strats are specific guitars, with special features on them that make them unique. Just because you have a beautiful red or blue or whatever colored American Series Strat with a little gold sticker on the back of the head stock that says, “50th years” does not mean you have a 50th Anniversary Strat.

For those who play, own and or collect Fender guitars you know what I’m talking about. For those who didn’t know better, stop labeling your guitar incorrectly when you write about it on line. For those who go on e-bay and list their guitar incorrectly to get more money out the guitar, shame on you. You won’t get only collectors to fall for that tactic, but you may get some poor guy who doesn’t know any better and that is just wrong. Integrity is key to the buying and selling of musical instruments.

"Only Fender guitars that have the "50th Anniversary" Neck plate are the real deal. "
Paris,..thats not exactly true,..all 2004 American made Strats have the "50th Anniversary" neck plates,.because 2004 was the anniversary of the Stratocaster. But Fender produced 4 Strats models to "commemorate" the Anniversary.

50th CS: 2 tone sunburst,maple fretboard,54 pickups,ash body,two cases,vintage appointments/bridge,neck,frets,tuners,..as close to the orginal '54 as possible.

50th AmSe.:basically the same as the CS,but with modern wiring, bridge, neck, frets, tuners, still 2 tone sunburst, ash body, special case with 50th ann. embrodered inside the tweed case.

50th Deluxe:2 tone sunburst,maple fretboard,Alder body,SCN pickups/S1 switch,gold hardware,etched "50th Ann." P/G,same case as 50th AmSe.

About mid-year '04 Fender made MIM "golden" 50th Strat,..still only available with the maple fretboard.
