Well I have 8 Fenders in the house and only one came from a store. Right after the price hike I bought a cherryburst tele deluxe NOS for $1,030 so I saved $700 and a matching ash strat deluxe for $1,100 and saved 6 and change now you cant beat that with a baseball bat. True ebay is not what it once was because of to many guitar wise sellers list there items pretty high and the guy who bought a guitar but got frustrated and goes to sell it looks at what others are selling them for. But if you are patient you will always find what you need and save big time. Especially now with hard economic times it is one of the best buyers markets you are ever going to see and you bet your $@! I have taken advantage of it in a big way and so have a lot of others. Besides I would rather give my money to a guy trying to make a car payment or pay the rent then GC or Sam Ash. I bought an Ernie Ball EVH mint from a guy who was selling of his collection because he was sick and had mounting medical bills and I felt bad doing it. He had a stroke and we were emailing eachother and he said he felt better knowing his ax was going to a good place and he was going to keep a few for when he could play again which made me feel better. As far as parting out the guitars I see nothing wrong at all with it. First off there are way more bodies than necks I dont think a neck last a day,and why should someone have to buy 3 pickups when they only need one. These guys are making a few bucks on the side and also saving players some bucks. And stop talking about Fenders as if there some sacred object. They are great guitars nothing more nothing less and if Fender would sell people necks or other parts you would not see this so if there not so concerned why should anyone else be. Remember that post with that girl who broke her guitar neck in a car accident and Fender would not sell her one well I think I know where she got one.

I got a bit of capital left and am thinking of doing the same thing in the UK to save all the shipping costs to this part of the planet. I too was sceptical of 'the stratosphere' when i first saw it, i've since changed my mind. If fender wont supply parts easily then someone is going to monopolize on that. Even Ed Roman says 'he will buy guitars just to break em down to parts to sell'.

I've met Ed Roman, back when he was in Ct. what a character!
