So, I really wasn't planning to buy another Fender electric for a while. I took advantage of Guitar Center's discount coupons, holiday sales and trade ins to buy two of the "other" Fenders I have always wanted... a Classic Players Jazzmaster and a 1965 Mustang reissue, last month. Then there was that 2 color Sunburst '72 Tele Thinline Reissue that I couldn't resist right after the new year. Okay, that's enough. I should stop now.

I noticed a pristine Olympic White Jimmy Vaughan Tex-Mex Strat in my favorite GC's Fender Room while I was checking out the new Road Worn guitars Monday. It was marked way down as a clearance item, hmmm. It had Tex-Mex pickups with an extra hot bridge pickup with tone control, vintage hardware and a soft "V" shaped maple neck with maple fretboard that felt great. I plugged into a Blues Deluxe amp and it was instant love. I ended up buying the Jimmy Vaughan Strat and a deluxe SKB fitted case with TSA locks for just under $500. The Road Worn will have to wait. :)

The color looks more like Arctic White than Olympic White but I won't complain.

I have always been unashamedly partial to the JV model, as it is a very close cousin to my Strat (mine is a MIM with Tex Mex pups). Nice guitar. I am definitely feelin' it...

Thanks, guys. I'm still smiling about that deal. I played the Vaughan right after I finished playing all the Road Worn Strats in GC's Fender Room and the tones and the feel were just as good. The clearance price made it an easy decision.

I'm in that Guitar Center all the time and that was the first time I had seen a Jimmy Vaughan Strat there. It didn't take me long to become a convert. :D
