My 72 Strat came with Fender Rock and Roll 150's. They had light and extra lights. I can't remember the actual string gauge though. They were great, but in the mid 70's something changed with them and they were horrible. They went dead and lost their sparkle very quickly. That's when I started using Dean Makley and D'Addario strings.

Try some Snake Oil Brand strings. You may be surprised.
