How about Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix and Burn by Deep Purple....they're hardly metal and should be a crowd pleaser... :D

Turn the page - Bob Seger
Sunshine of your love - Cream
You really got me - ( EVH's way )
When love comes to town - B.B. King
Rockin' in a free world - ( The way Pearl Jam did it)

And whatever you do find 10 minutes to play SRV's Lenny and improvise, jam in it with your band. They're gonna like it and if they don't, your strat and you will surely do !!! I think it would be best to play it before the last song. And close with sth a bit stronger.

Greetings from Greece...

I find that old Traffic tunes go over really well in bars. They'll take very little time for your band to learn, let you really practice your improv and eat up a lot of time!

Sure, those are great ones to add to any list! There are tons of others as well that I either didn't think or, or was just too lazy to keep typing in :)

Maybe you could play Sunshine of Your Love and/or Crossroads by Cream.
