Got a question for all the strat guru’s out there…….the 3 way pickup switch allows only one pick up to be played at a time…the 5 position switch allows 1 or 2 pickups to be played at one time…..Did Fender ever in the past or do they now make a pick up switch set up that allows for all 3 pickups to be played at the same time……Is there a wiring mod out there to allow me to do this?…..is this even possible or advisable?..........Any input would be greatly appreciated……… :D

Hi wtcumm00: that three pups all together option is available on a Strat I have with the S1 switch. In fact, I find it a useful sound: bigger and fatter than any of the others and a nice place to go for a solo.

Couple of options. I believe you can achieve that setting with the Megaswitch. However, most people use that switch to give the neck+bridge option, so just check with Stew-Mac that it can give three-pups-on as well:

Of course, you have to sacrifice one of your standard five positions to get it, probably position three.

Alternatively, you can add a circuit that brings in the bridge pickup even when it is switched off by the selector switch. That means you can add the bridge to neck or neck+middle settings, giving you a total of seven switch options.

Two ways to do this. Some people rewire the second tone knob to a be control for the bridge pickup to bring it in as I described. The other way is to install a little on-off switch somewhere on the pickguard that brings in the bridge pickup. Many circuit diagrams out there for how to do it.

Incidentally, both the Gilmour Sig Strat and the MIM Deluxe Player's Strat have that little button ready installed.

Good luck - C

I replaced my center (tone) potentiometer with a Push/Pull pot that turns on the bridge pickup no matter where the selector switch is set--that way I can get the Neck & Bridge or the Neck/Middle/Bridge pickups turned on all at once--very little soldering and you can't see the modification!

I too use a push Pull pot for this and it works great.
I use it to turn on the neck and not the bridge but it's the same idea and you can get Neck+Bridge or all three with it.
All three pickups sound really good clean. VERY quacky.

Go look at Deluxe Player's strat amazing sounding guitar vintage noisless pickups. 5 way switch with a mini toggle push button so when the toggle switch is using the neck/middle pickups (4th position), you push the button gives you all three pickups... also when only using the neck pickup (5th position) when you push the button it gives you neck and bridge for when you need that classic tele sound... You should definately give this guitr a try for 629.99 at guitar center, amazing deal.
