I'm getting an Eric Clapton Signature, and can't decide between the Bullet strings and Ernie Ball.

I use super slinkies on my other guitars, but Fender calls the bullet "strings for a strat" which kinda confuses me on what string i should use.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your fine choice of guitars!!!

Clapton uses both Super Slinkies and Regular Slinkies on all his Stratocasters. And FWIW, I've been using Super Slinkies on all my Stratocasters since 1971, this also includes my EC Sig. one. I have absolutely no use for the Bullets.

Buy them both, play with each, then on your 3rd set pick the ones you liked the best.

I use Ernie Ball Heavy Bottoms - Skinny Tops on my Strat with Texas Specials and Fender 9`s on my other Strat. I like the way they both have their individual sound and feel. Strings are a personal choice.

Hello JtLee9153,

I like Fender bullets,
I feel the bullet shaped end
fits into the tremolo block with
more complete contact producing
more probable sustain & tonal capabilities.

Cheers.

Given the choice between the two, I'd go with Ernie Ball Super Slinkies, the nickel wound ones. I've been real happy with Fender 150 XL they have a nice warm sound

Never liked Super Bullets. If you like Slinkies, use them.

I used Ernie Ball for years. I always loved them but these days they sound too bright to me..Back when I used to use them I played a lot of Country music and the bright twag was what I was looking for….don’t get me wrong, there good strings for a week or two, at most 2 months then there shot….problem with EB is they tarnish and wear out so quick…in fact in my opinion faster than anything I have ever used . the EB will work fine on your guitar even though it calls for Fender bullets…I like the Fender strings better that the EB. I believe there more slinky and bend better for blues type play….I tend to use Gibson Bright Wire strings on my Strats… they seem to wear better than the fender and the EB’s and they don’t lose that new string sound for 6 or 8 months…..

It only calls for Super Bullets because Fender makes them. You will have no problem with other strings. Strats were out a long time before the bullets. Use whatever YOU like. :D

I put a Callaham aftermarket tremolo block in. It won't take bullets. So I use ball end strings. Lately D'Addarios.

I like EB Super Slinkies, but I also like Dunlop and the GHS Boomers David Gilmour edition.

Don't like the Super Bullets, feel too slick under my fingers for my taste.

I heard that there is only like 4 companies that make strings and about a dozen different names they are sold under. I use D'Addarios and never had a problem. I just strung one of my strats with Ernie Balls just for the hallibut and I couldnt tell the diff. Probably the same F'ing strings. LOL

You hear that about everything from camera lenses to TV sets, it's just not true. I believe it's a lot of off brands that do that, but your better string manufacturers make and keep their own. Some actually pride themselves on core design and use of quality alloys.
