Hi robt, well you're right ! 8)

I'm getting a strat classic player 60's, and I would like to unify the color with changing the pickguard.

So, I need to get a sonic blue picckguard :)

Hi Roma!n: I think it is very unlikely, I'm afraid. I don't remember ever seeing pickguards in matching colors to Fender's Custom Colors (Sonic Blue, Surf Green, Fiesta Red, etc etc).

I can imagine how you could make a pickguard like that - but it would be a LOT of effort, and the color may never quite match exactly.

As robt8500 said, a clear pickguard would show the color beneath - as well as the electrics. You might like that look?

Or mint green pickguards (actually an off white) look very nice with Sonic Blue...

Cheers - C

Hello Roma!n,

Take your guitar to the automotive paint store
and ask them to match your paint color.
Then get the clear pickguard and
paint the underside & now you
have a durable, colored &
expensive pickguard.

Best of luck with
your project.

Cheers.

Ha! Paint the underside of a clear 'guard. That is SO much more sensible than the route I was thinking. Nice one, Mr Bill!

To order that Sonic Blue the paint code will help. I'm finding 11475-DQE as the code for Sonic Blue on 1956 Cadillacs. I believe that is an international code...

A paint supplier can put that into an aerosol for you, if that would be handy. Also, good to check if you're getting nitrocellulose or acrylic paint. It may only be available in nitro for a '50s color, but given the choice I wonder if acrylic would be better for bonding with the plastic of a pickguard?

Show us pics of how you get on, why not?

Cheers - C

Roma!n, have you seen a CP 60 in person yet? You can't really appreciate the color scheme on this guitar until you have it in your hands.

I have one, and before I bought it, you could never have convinced me that I would want a Sonic Blue body with a Mint Green pick guard. It sounds incredibly nasty but in reality is pretty sweet.

I agree with flplayer. One of the best color combinations I have seen at the store is sonic blue body and mint green pickguard. I just wish the CP 60 had a maple fretboard. That would be my favorite combo to jump all over on. Some aged pick up covers & knobs. Classic.
