Hi dustyn808....welcome to the Forum.Congrats in deciding the 1st step to buy a strat for yourself.
Well in my opinion its not the color or type of strat that's gonna define your style of playing.....best is that you go down to the nearest dealer and try out the different models and you'd be surprised that you might end up with a totally different choice when you initially decide....well that's my opinion.

Good luck with your choice...! :D

Hi dustyn808, welcome to the Forum.

Sonic Blue was a '60s color finish and so is typically found on "reissue" model Strats. Unless I've overlooked one the only place in the catalog I am currently finding a Sonic Blue Strat listed is on the Classic Player '60s model on this page:

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0141100372

Mind you, perhaps my screen is not displaying it accurately but that sure looks like a white Strat to me! Maybe the wrong picture is on that page, or maybe they are listing the wrong color. You'd have to ask Fender to be sure.

robt8500's pictures above are a better guide to what Sonic Blue looks like. You could also check out Daphne Blue on '50s Strats. It is not the same (a slightly more greeny blue, like artists' Manganese Blue) but it is in the same ball park.

Good luck - C

year Ceri, the sonic blue colour is a tricky one. it had changed so much over the years. the one that you found is probably closest to the original one from the 60's (but looks like sky blue) and the two that i have are some really weird versions of it..... thats why i was asking dustyn if he liked the colours of my guitars because im not quite sure what one means when they say they like sonic blue

That's right: I've seen everything from your Strat (which is my idea of Sonic Blue) through to a very pale powder blue. And your Jag-Stang there looks almost like Daphne, though I don't doubt you saying it is Sonic Blue as well.

I'm looking at Paisley Strat's '50s guitar on this page:

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=16366

You could tell me that was Daphne or Sonic Blue and I'd be happy to believe it either way.

And the number of different Fiesta Reds I've seen, even before the sunlight gets to them!

Not only is the color chart not an accurate guide to the real color - the real color may not always be an accurate guide either!

Hahaha! I think an important purpose of the Fender Forum is for us all to share the pain!

Then there's always the paint company's material variability!

orville, thats a good thing too because i'm glad that the strat and the jagstang are not the exact same colour, its nice having variety. and to push the colour thing one step further, the two blues are from two different countries... one american and one japanese. that could also be the variable.

If color is your primary concern, you should get a red one.

paint colours vary from batch lot to batch lot. Even from the same factory. At best it is an approximation. So if you like Sonic Blue, you might see if Daphne blue turns your crank too.

Also depending on your monitor, you might not be seeing the right hues online either.
