Oh, always interested! Sounds very nice - now I have to go and find out about that timber...

Good luck with it - C

Hi all,

Well after a week and 2 days since I ordered my new neck from Warmoth, it is fitted and fully functional, thanks to my local music shop and tech.
I am very happy with it so far, although I haven't had too much time to give it a proper play, and I think it looks great.

Some photos of before and after...

Be interesting to see how it compares to the 62 reissue I have, as I haven't played this Deluxe since I got that due to the neck problems.

Neck details;

Warmoth Vintage Modern
Quilted Maple neck with Ziricote FB
Standard back, 10''-16'' compound radius
6150 size nickel frets
Corian nut
Clear gloss finish
fitted with staggered Gotoh vintage-style tuners to avoid string-trees
(I do like these!)

Will let you know how it sounds and plays later! Rock on! :D

Whoa, that looks very nice, especially that headstock! When you say clear gloss finished, do you mean across the fingerboard as well? I still haven't looked up that timber...

I have a set of those Gotoh staggered vintage tuners, BTW. They're good, aren't they?

Cheers - C

Ceri,

No, the gloss is just on the neck - the fretboard is unfinished similar to most RW boards. Sorry, should have been more specific.

I like the normal Gotohs on my reissue but wanted the staggereds so as not to ruin the look of the new headstock. I personally don't understand what some of the guys on here have against the vintage tuners - I find them far easier to re-string and they feel tighter and surer than the modern styles I've tried.

Cheers,
E

Right. And if we (very respectfully) had any tiny issue with Leo over his Strat design it would be the string tree. That's really a bit of a mechanical compromise rather than an elegant solution.

Modern Fenders have staggered pole pieces - but still not staggered enough to get rid of the treble string tree. I wonder why not? Our adjustable Gotohs can be set low enough on the top e that there's no need for the tree.

At any rate, Eric Johnson agrees with us on this one!
