Hi, I have a 2006 Jimmie Vaughan strat and I was stringing it for the first time and i strung it with ernie ball super slinky strings and it played fine for about 10 minutes and then the high e-string slipped a little and then it completely fell out of the hold at the top of the neck, any suggestions on how to fix this problem

How many times did you wind the string around the post?

Exactly -- The answer is "likely too few".

When you cut off the loose tag end, put a 90 or 180 degree crimp in the wire against[u] the direction that you have wound the string.

I have found this to help when I have made two or three turns around the post, but have accidentally cut the wire too short and it slips out. When re-inserting the string to start over, make the bend upwards or backwards (180 deg.) then.

I used this recently to save a $15.00 set of Thomastik-Infelds on my HD-28. It works, and the strings sing like angels.

On my vintage tuners: for the plain strings I wind a few turns then put it through the post. Doesn't work on the wound strings so well though.

On vintage tuner I cut the strings about 3 inches past the tuner. Stick the string in the hole, bend it then wind.

+1 I actually get as many wrappings around the post as possible. I have found that most Custom Shop guitars that I have played look as though that have the equivalent of cutting the string a little more than 4" past the post.

Looking back at when I started out, i would say I was an idiot. Spent my first 8 or 9 years fighting with a Floyd Rose Locking trem. especially funny since i don't really divebomb. That's stupid, asking advice never is. Then I found my Strat and wised up.
