I'll just give it a try, hopefully find a sound I like out of it. Dunlop reissue sounds more my type. Know any mods out there for those?

This guy I was talking about before has mods as well. It is as close to the fuzz pedal that Hendrix played as possible.

The Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face with the germanium are priced out of this world though. How does the Dunlop reissue model sounds next to it?

Or am I better going with a Muff from Electro Harmonix, I'm looking for that 70's fuzz sound, you know, the one before the overdrive pedals became the trend.

then go with the jimi hendrix signature fuzz face.
the dunlop fuzz faces are like haveing the originals
thats how good they are

Great, they can be had pretty cheap.

Too many people get caught up with endorsements from the families of dead artists and supposed 'reissues'.

Now days it's the smaller guys and lesser known companies that are making the best stuff and the most accurate clones.

Anyone who hasn't checked out analogman and fulltone really owes it to their ears!

Mike Piera should rename the company "Crackman." I've bought so many damned pedals from those guys and keep going back for more.

Another great pedal they make is the Beano Boost treble booster.

You would think the Beano Boost would definitely come out from the "Crackman"

go with a project pedal BYOC have a great rep.

http://www.buildyourownclone.com/

I wouldnt waste my money on a fuzzface. £180 in the uk. :? . They weren't that good back in the day, nevermind now. The beauty of fuzz is that you can get good results without blowing a wad on em.

This bloke makes good ones but he's in the uk, so shipping costs will bump the price up.

http://www.projectguitarparts.co.uk/Pages/burfordfx.html

Their good enough for billy gibbons.

Niki, I was hoping you would chime in here. I could not remember the name (burford) you had told us all about in an earlier post. That's a really good effect manufacturer worthy of consideration! Thanks for jogging my memory!

I think the problem with ther germanium fuzz face is that no two would sound alike and you had to try a few even new in store to find one that would suit.

Damn, you guys are gonna make me spend a few Benjamin on one pedal...

I use the Big Muff Pi and I think it's a good fuzz pedal. It's true bypass and it's under $100. But you should try out a bunch of fuzz pedals before buying one. The reason I picked this one is because it is used by both Santana and David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. It's also great for garage rock, punk, and alternative/grunge music if you're into that sort of thing.

I bought one too for use with the DG strat. It does a good job and like you say it won't break the bank!
