Does anyone have some interesting facts about the guitars of the famous player. Says Jimi's or Ray Vaughan strats just to name the obvious. I mean they didnt buy new guitars, ever wondered where they came from? Who's the John Doe who played them before they did.

SRV's Lenny was bought from a pawn shop, some guy out there possibly still alive owned it at some point.

I know google offers some info obviously, but does anyone have some unusual facts? Maybe someone in here has his own story.

If so, please tell what others might not know...

There is some really cool information on Hendrix tribute guitars here: http://www.modernguitars.com/archives/000039.html

This story is amazing: "Story of the 1980 Hendrix Stratocaster prototype #1" - be sure to read that one.

Great, I got this post idea yesterday. I got this strat a few month ago and supposedly it once did belong to Donnie Daicus when playing briefly for Chicago. They eventually fired his $@! and apparently it was "given" to their guitar tech who later sold it. Not that I am a fan, so that wasnt a selling point. The guy I bought it from didnt even mention it, I only found out later when I googled up the serial number.

I do at home, at work right now. Unfortunately it is no longer original, the body was later refinished from white to Lake Placid blue, it seems it has taken a beating over the year but I like the thin skin it now has.

I'll post a picture tonight.

Reading the 1980 Hendrix prototype article right now. The part where the guy goes to the guitar shop and sees it hanging.

Yes, it's a great story. Odds are like one in a lifetime. How cool is it when Ray Vaughan has snatched your strat?
