The first review of this guitar I've seen. Thanks for sharing it with all of us forum members! I've been a hankering for a cheaper tele than a deluxe to add to my collection as I don't own one. Maybe I'll give them a try! :)

Try the tele out. There was a guy sitting next to me with a road worn tele and it looked like he really liked it. He had a big grin on his face so he must of been happy.

Fhopkins, sounds like you could be better off with a baja tele. Similar quality levels and no extortionate pricetag. I'm very pleased with mine.

You are right Niki! I'd forgot that you had one and I've heard good things about it from you and others! Thanks my friend! :)

It's going to be a while before I can afford and the wife lets me buy anything so I've plenty of time for testing and looking for a good deal. You know with the economy now days we might start finding pawn shop deals again! :)

Fhopkins,
Why do you need a tele with that gilmour at hand. I know its not a tele but it must get somewhere near with the pickup on switch.

One thing i didnt like about the baja was the saddles. Its about time fender realized compensated saddles are the way forward and put them on as standard. Let the old style barrels be for the 'must be vintage correct high enders'.

Hi guys... New forum user from Portugal here! :D

I was wondering what material did Fender use to replicate the Clay Dots in the Road Worn guitars sporting rosewood fingerboards?! Because these don't look that accurate from close sight.

Besides that, these guitars and basses look really nice and IMO, a pretty smart move by Fender, sales wise!

Thank you all! :D

I'd have to go back and look closely at the inlay to be able to comment on them. I can say that Fender did a nice job on the overall vintage look.

I don't really Niki! The wife says(rightly so) that I'm just a spoiled man! She brings me back down to earth when needed!

Well Fender setups have always been hit or miss. Mostly miss. It was immediatley obvious to me that the bridge on all 4 road worn strats were to high. As for as the strings go they may have been 10's. I've been playing with higher guage strings lately so it could be just me although I should know the difference between 9's and 10's by now. : )

A lot of people like 9's. I know I do. James Burton likes his strings even lighter - 9,10,12,24,32,38. Whatever he's playing sounds good to me. Your string gage doesn't have an inherent quality. It's a personal preference.
