I tried to PM the moderators but it said PMs were disabled so I guess I'll just ask the forum. I read the forum rules and I'm definitely not a "commercial entity" just a private individual. I have been a member of the boards for a little while though not incredibly active here. If my posts were reviewed it would be pretty obvious I'm not a spammer. I have a Strat I'm looking to sell and I thought this would be the perfect place to find a buyer. Is this permitted?

I think its frowned upon. Transactions have taken place between forum members in the past but i'm unsure of details.

Please feel free to contact me through my myspace link in my signature with offers. It cant be anyworse than some of the spam and adverts on that place.

I think you'd be better off with ebay or craig's list anyway. They more geared for that, and you'll have way more hits and interest since only people wanting to buy will check it out.

Here, most people already have things. And the few that might want what you have to sell probably wont' live anywhere by you anyway.

I think you'll have more luck doing the selling somewhere else.

I can for sure tell you NO!!!! I wasnt really selling anything. I was letting people know where to get upgraded pickguards and pickups and the moderators, to whom I apologise to cause I didnt realize I was in the wrong and will Not do it again, but in the rules of the forum, it was still considerded a form of selling. So no kind of Selling in anyway is permitted on the forum, and this just happened to me within the last 2 days. Ebay or Craigslist like the other guys mentioned before. Good Luck.

Hi FarmerMan. You've already had a lot of hits on that thread though, haven't you? Nothing like that padlock icon on a thread to have us all excitedly clicking on it for a look-see...

No selling...no advertising...the thread will be locked by Fenders administration if you try to do that. You may want to put it on Craigslist in your local area.

... and it probably should be like that.

Once you "allow" sales pitches, then you open a can of worms on spam and over-advertising, which would pretty much ruin the nice forum they have here now.

Forums are for talking and helping, not really for selling. We can't do it any better than ebay or craigslist anyway.

Could you imagine all the garbage fender customer services would end up getting because people bought 'a wrong un' through their forum. Even though it would be nothing to do with them.

Okay, no selling no big deal; I can respect that. I'm a member on a few guitar forums, some allow selling between members, some don't. I think this is the only forum I'm on that's owned and operated by a corporation; so I can certainly understand Fender wanting to protect itself.

I just kinda figured since we're ALL fans of Fender guitars I might find someone who's lookin' to make a purchase; no harm intended.

Thanks for the replies guys.

You'd think people here are more knowledgeable anyway. Selling something here wouldnt get you top dollar as it would from ebay or CL where people buy anything even with an overpriced tag.

Hey Ceri. Its now in a blog on my mysppace page. man i didnt know. A pic of my guitar with the diamond plate pickguard is in the "show pics of your MIM strat" thread or something along the lines of that. Even the guy at Fender who put the lock on it said it was a really cool Mod. I love mine, its gonna be my Strat trademark, I am gonna put em on all my strats, they just look that damn good!!!
Peace Brotha,
